-5 at halftime with a 17 pt lead Topic

Why would the sim give me a -5 defense with a halftime lead of 17? I only have that setting on losing late and what coach would employ that in life or sim?

If you:

1) started at -3

2) said to always adjust at the half;

3) your opponent took very few shots from outside;

then the engine could adjust you to -5. The most it will adjust is two settings in either direction.

If you don't want it adjusted when you have a lead, you have to indicate so.

I understand that....but why -5 if i was winning wouldnt it go up to 0? That big of a lead........andn would u as a real coach take away the inside?

Joco, if I were you, I'd be talking about scoring 4 pts in the entire second half. That's absurd.

Yeah thats crazy too.....Hell if i would had doubled that i's won.....i have alot of young players Im ok with 6-4 non conference......but 7-3 would have been nice......i know ive played a slow down....but 4 points? a girls team could have scored more

That adjustment to -5 isn't crazy at all, as al explained, that's what your settings dictated.

But yes, a girl's team could've scored more.

On a semi-related note, I'm playing (not very well, but I'm playing) in a bball league. We have the championship game coming up, last night I dreamt that we lost the title game ... to a team of girls. In my dream I got there late and my buddy turned to me and said, "These girls are killing us!"

Good to know my subconscious is focused on the really important stuff.

oh wow

Yeah, the scoring drought in the 2nd half did you in more than the -5. If you're confident in your gameplan, why let the sim ai change you? Then you would never have to second guess the change. You still however would be scratching your head at the lack of scoring output in the 2nd...

The engine doesn't care if you're winning or not. It's only concerned with the type of shots your opponent is taking.

joco, you selected "change anytime", and it did exactly that.

@ dalter yes but logic would say if im up 17 points u dont crowd the paint........but then again this is HD were logic doesnt have a place

If it had moved up to a -1 (it only adjusts by 2 one way or the other) and they continued to pound it inside and since it adjusted to the perimeter more they started scoring you'd be here going WHY WOULD IT SWITCH TO -1?!?!

If you don't trust it to switch to a good defense, turn it off.

Again joco, the sim was merely following your instructions. If you don't like how it worked out, you just need to change your instructions.

My alarm woke me up this morning at 6 AM. I don't know why, I told it to always go off at 6 AM, no matter what. It should've known I have the day off.
