Does anyone know of examples of owners who were fired from their DI programs?

If yes, did any of them keep playing HD?

It's not common, but it does happen. And the ones I've seen have mostly kept playing.

Me, me!

Fired from:
Missouri-Tark
Holy Cross-Tark
Kent St.-Allen

(I may have quit Kent St. before I got fired. Don't remember exactly. I might have been able to survive another season if I wanted to, but it would have been a rebuilding year with no chance of getting to the post-season. Might as well have been fired. Maybe I was fired and I just don't remember.)

I am not in either world anymore, though. Been thinking about jumping back into one or the other next time they roll over.

So why do you want to know, Braziman?

I haven't had a DI program for a long time and am having a heck of a time getting together a resume in DII. Wondered about the worst-case scenario if I ever get to DI.

I was fired from New Mexico in Tark. Got knocked all the way down to D2 and it's been challenging getting back into D1. Seems that if you're fired from a mid-level program in D1, you get sent back to square one in D2.

This is great for D1, since there are 100+ D1 schools under Sim AI control in each world that I've seen.

Yeah, I got fired from LaSalle in Wooden, spent my obigatory 4 in D2 and am now back in D1 rebuilding a bad Air Force team. It's an ego hit, but an understandable and neccessary part of the game. I would only say that it seems like it is the low majors and top mid-majors that really have to deal with this issue and it's a bit annoying in that respect. Both times I've been in jeopardy it's been in a top RPI conference taking over the lowest team, and while I set no records, the hurdles that creates should be mitigated to an extent. Especially when you have some traditionally good schools who retain coachs who don't exactly excel. I've seen some coachs stay at some pretty high profile programs with little success while others get fired trying to rebuild the lower end schools in power conferences... Not advocating more firings, but I think the bar should be more relative to the school's baseline prestige.

you are more or less awesome

Yeah, I think that has to do with the level of school you get fired from and how long you've been coaching there. You'd been at D1 for what, 18 seasons, and at Temple for most of them.

fired from Drake, had to go to D2.

I was fired from Michigan in Knight, while I was on vacation, so I didn't even see it until jobs were done. Waited 2 seasons and got in at Old Dominion.
