position player stamina Topic

can someone please explain to me why position players stamina ratings are all over the place? i am talking with 18-22 yr. olds. i have seen numerous 18 yr. old prospects with a dur. in the 50-60 range so many times it is getting very old. there is no way a 18 yr. old would only have a st. of 60.

It's a rating that forces you to make decisions around.

If everybody had a durability of 90 to 100, then it would be a pretty useless rating because then everybody would be available to play every game.

it wouldn't be a useless rating, it would be a more realistic rating..

i can understand having players in the 75-80 range but having 18 yr. olds in the range of 45-60 is just crazy...

don't players pretty much play every game in real life???

I KNOW!!!

AND THERE'S NO WAY IN HELL ANY PROFESSIONAL BALLPLAYER WOULD BE FATIGUED FOR A DAY AFTER THROWING 10 PITCHES!!! THAT'S FRIGGIN' STUPID!!!

I DEMAND THIS BE ADDRESSED OR I'M QUITTING!!!!

I know this is slightly misleading due to promotions to a higher level, but in the Midwest League (LoA) last year, the teams played 137-140 games

no player played more than 136 games
13 players played 130+
25 players played 120+
44 players played 110+

there were 14 teams in the Midwest league in 2009, so there are 126 starting positions

point being, guys in the low minors don't play every day ... and note that even though they are young, there is a huge difference between the number of games in a high school or college season and a low minors professional season

It would be useless within the context of having to plan and use strategy to put together a 25 man roster that can play an entire season.

the question is did they not play because of fatigue or cause they weren't playing well?

i guess i am looking for the number to be more realistic with comparison to there age..

i realize it will never happen, i am not looking for every player to be a 90. what i am looking for is having the young players come in already near there max, not say a 55 and hve there projection be a 80 how about come in at a 70 and have there max be a 75 or an 80..

THERE'S NO WAY IT WAS FATIGUE!!! I COULD HAVE PLAYED DOUBLEHEADERS EVERY DAY FOR A FULL YEAR WHEN I WAS 22!!!

FIX THIS NOW WIFS!!!!!

also one more thing why doesn't ther stamina improve during the season? it only improves in the offseason which makes no sense either

Physical ratings improve in the offseason. Skill ratings improve in-season.

And not to nit-pick (but I will), but you are refering to the durability rating. The stamina rating is something different, and applies only to pitchers.

Moonlight Graham, LoA Season 15, AL Only (to give comparable number of teams to the Midwest league)

more than one page (25) of players played all 144 games

so, one way or the other, the low minors in one selected HBD world are showing guys playing waaaay more than the real world

now, I don't know if that it because the HBD world ins't promoting in-season as much as the MiLB ... or if the HBD world is playing "fatigued" positions players ... or if the HBD world's over-abundance of so-called low DUR guys isn't affecting things

but even with this so-called "non-realistic" rating, HBD position players in the low minors are playing waaay more often than their real life counterparts
