3 star to a DI D prestige? Oh yes ;-) Topic

There is a really good 3 star baller close to me (less than 100 miles) and with 6 schollies open, and some over cash from last season, I have money to blow on a chance at a superstar. Can I convince him to come to Murray State with a D prestige? Or is $100+k really not that much after all? Thanks for not laughing JRNY

Just depends how much a big boy wants him.. I wouldnt try to fight with anyone C+ or higher, but that's me

Well, it's very unlikely they will even talk to you, but barring that, it would take a pretty big effort to get one if you have to battle even a C school. I've found that even between a D- and a D there is a huge disparity in recruiting power, moreso than between any other rank other than the possibly uncapped A+ range to A.

I don't think he'll even take your calls. I suppose there's a chance if he's less than 70, but even though I'm pretty sure that he won't.

offer him a car.....do it....do it

I think under 100 miles he talks to you... go for him man, no guts no glory

Under 100 is no guarantee. Just has a higher likelihood possibly responding.

Actually, that's 70 or under, not 100. I had a friend who had a D not long ago and he had no shot at 3-stars of any kind regardless of distance. Maybe jr has a higher D or something like that, but I'm still betting they don't even take his call.

I've just got into the D1 scene and recently have had to manage a couple of D- schools. A 3 star will not even talk to you. Period. You may get some 2 star juco players to bite. With a D, You can get 2 stars within the 60-70 mile area, but 3 stars are probably a reach. If you can get them to talk to you, they are probably worth the battle, but I wouldn't try it with anyone with a C+ or higher.

Oh, he'd D-, for some reason I had read D. There is no chance of having a 3-star recruit even talk your calls, regardless of distance.

The 30th ranked PG is 60 miles from me. A 3-star player and I am a backup plan for him. The 26th ranked SG is 50 miles from me. A 3-star player and I am a backup plan for him. I like one a whole lot better than the other, but both are being recruited by C+ prestige schools so I have quite the decision to make.

I think I may go whole-heartedly after the one I think I have the best chance to get. Maybe observe the battles the other coaches are in and guess which of the schools have the most money to spend. I will also try and "read the palms" errrrr check the word on the street and look for an opening.

It seems that my D is much better than a D-, for what its worth. But lets stop discussing whether or not they will talk to me. Both of these guys chatted me up for a $10 investment.

Just know that AFTER you spend the money to pull them down (can't be sure on how much that would even take), you will have to spend roughly twice what the C+ schools are offering. I wouldn't gut my team for one 3 star, but that's me.

I just had a C+ school jump into a battle with me over a 1-star recruit. If I am gonna have to fend these high prestige schools off anyway, I may as well load up on the best prospect that will talk to me, right?

Except the will expect more, need more, than a one star, to recruit them.
