Pardon this post for a little rant. The EE feature is complete bullsh*t. In Knight, I am at Missouri St. and I have built the team up from a D prestige to a B-. This past season we went to the Sweet 16. I had a team full of juniors but none were big time recruits as I recruited them with a C prestige. One of my big men had a good season but his ratings were so-so. He decided to declare early. Now, UNC which just went to the Elite 8 has a ton of players who obviously were big time recruits and have awesome ratings. However, none of them declared early. How does this happen? I'm not picking on UNC, I just happened to see in the CC that they had lost no one. This system is just horrible. It takes my team and puts a severe handicap even though I am not in a major conference and do not have a loaded team. Something needs to be done to fix this.

Thanks - rant over.

EE's will likely be the thing that ends up causing me to leave HD.

That along with not getting nearly as much money / ship due to them and recruit generation, specifically where they are generated (not ratings wise).

Apparently your Big East conference mate is rubbing off on you.

Why do people get so upset over guys leaving school early? Thats how basketball works.

Knight has been set back 3 seasons by HD's gaff this past offseason where they ran it like 5 times. Wisconsin won the national title because of it. EE are messed up because of it.

No thats not how basketball works; a player from a midmajor almost never leaves school early. Maybe a guy who goes to the Sweet 16 or Elite 8 and leads the nation in scoring; thats his gripe. My Kansas team has been destroyed by early entries and Im fine with that as I consistently recruit top players. His point was (I think) that he didnt recruit the type of guy that should ever under any circumstance leave. I am one of the biggest proponents of early entries as I believe they add a welcome realism to the game...But I'd have to agree with Sully here.

. . .except that in real life, midmajors don't generally get the kind of players they get in HD. Many of those players woudl be sitting on benches ad Major programs.

Wow! under 800 rating, 1 good season, what a joke. You got jobbed sully. In Knight, when I was at Appalachian St. I built it from a D- to a B with several players averaging 17+ and getting All-American recognition, none early, nor should they have. I didn't know that could even happen with a mid-majors 1-3 star fodder.

Have you ever coached at d1? if not stop talking before you look stupid. EE's do not work properly in HD and that is a known fact. Its not just about how EEs are so randomly choosen but also how they can decimate teams for the sole purpose of 'leveling the playing field'. Its a childish attempt at beast to mimic something in real life by WIS.
4/26/2010 7:38 PM
And let us not forget about how when a team is raped by EE's they many times end up with more then 6 schollies and are penalized by WIS by not receiving sufficient recruiting dollars.

Note that I wasn't arguing about EE working right or not, as I have no personal experience with it and couldn't say if it works. I was just saying that the Players "Never leaving early from a mid-major in real life' isn't that relevant a factor in and of itself in the HD environment where the distribution of talent doesn't really reflect the distribution in real life.

I'm not that upset about it...this happens and I've learned to live with it. Its just that if EE really are to level the playing field and keep teams "in line", then it is not working. Teams in the ACC and other Big 6 are not losing guys yet a "mid-major" (and I wouldnt even call us that) loses a guy with not even close to those same ratings.

I'll get over it and move on but I dont think it is working as it should.

Just curious, but if you were accepting its existence and were implementing it, how woudl you do it?

4/26/2010 7:52 PM
yeah that is total bullshiit.
This game is so lopsided already toward schools in the big 6, hearing this just adds gas on the fire.....to the coaches at Duke, UNC etc.., unless that is the team you root for in real life then no worries, if they are not your favorite team then you must be coaching them for the advantage which totally makes you a vaginaized coach....
