Need a little advice here. My school is a D3 with C- prestige. Obviously not the best position to be recruiting from. I have a nearby guy that I want who shows up as a D2 recruit. I've been trying to pull him down. From the start he's told me that I'm a "backup option" for him and that he'll keep me in mind, so I figured I should be able to pull him down. I've given him 11 scouting trips now and he's giving me the same old song and dance. Should I give it up and wait it out and hope or keep going after him? Is this a waste of money or have I just not spent enough yet? Thanks.

It can take 20 or so sometimes. 11 isn't enough to know. If you're a "backup," you should be able to pull him down.

Thanks. He's not considering anyone else at this point and since he's ineligible I figure no non-sim D2 teams are gonna go after him. Not too worried about that. I have two scholarships open and I'm willing to blow most of the budget on this guy. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't spinning my wheels. Thanks.

No problem. Hope he's a PF/C, looks like you could use one :)

I pulled a couple guys down pretty easy in this last recruiting cycle with the same prestige. Instead of spending so much money on him, you may want to consider waiting until he is a bit more desperate and therefore easier to pull down and/or sign.

I don't think you need to use scouting trips to pull a guy down. The logic may have changed since I was in D2 and D3 but I never did more than phone calls and calls to coaches to pull players down.

Im pretty sure the lower your prestige the more likely it is that youre going to need more scouting to pull a guy down. With my A prestige team Ive never used more than 10 on any recruit but with my new team (C+ and B prestige) the past 2 seasons Ive had to use about 15-20 on every player.

I ended up needing 16 to pull him down and then needed 2 HVs to get him to sign. Same guy I'm redshirting now, so I really don't want him to leave.

He sure didn't like that redshirt.

An absolute fallacy.

the phone call thing was "fixed" some time ago. scouting evals are the way to pull down.

I hoped the calls worked in the beta world but it didnt.

Probably missing something here - how can any D III school afford all that money for 16 scouting trips? That would be my entire budget or more... ?
