Well, my backup center who should be my starting center if not for a recruit promise got injured this morning...hyper-extended knee...at 83% health, despite playing 5 less MPG than last season and having a 71 DU. I'm relatively ticked about this and am just venting, given the circumstances.

Here's the player in question if you care... http://www.whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=12265&pid=1511739

Colonels is annoyed by something, alert the presses.

What does his MPG this season vs. last season have to do with an injury this season?

I stubbed my toe this morning despite the fact that I don't walk as much as I used to. That just can't be right. I blame God, the sidewalk, my shoes, etc. for this faulty outcome.

For reference...he started every game last year and played 5 MPG more and didn't get injured, but he's playing less this year, not starting and he gets hurt...it just makes the fact that he got hurt, more frustrating.

Only takes one second to get hurt.

The mpg thing is a tiny, tiny, tiny thing. I don't understand your focus on it. Injuries are random and generally not the result of playing too much, a small difference in mpg just isn't really a factor.

And the guy is at 83%, he can still play. Guys get banged up. This isn't major, surprising, unusual, weird or even worthy of a mention.

I can be even more succinct. ..

Again, not saying anything is wrong with the engine (AS YOU'RE SUGGESTING) I'm just ****** that this happened, and given the recent thread about injuries, I thought I'd pipe up. If a guy's getting significantly hurt at 71 DU in the "old" engine...what's going to happen in the new? You guys ALWAYS read more into my post than there is to read. I'm ****** and I'm venting because I'm ******, period. Get on with it...

Then you need to chill and relax a little more and repeat to yourself 'Its just a game'

Again, I would argue that if you're ok with everything that happens in/with the game, that you're detrimental to the game. I'm not throwing tables and chairs over this, but there's a degree of disappointment here that I don't think is unjust. I pay for this thing every season I play, so you, I, and everyone else has a reason to gripe whenever we please...I certainly don't do this to CS...though they probably should have given me a free season over the Montevallo farce...be well...

Since the new engine is tying the frequency/probability of injuries to durability, I would think the probability of a 71 DUR player get injured would go down or at least stay the same. His durability has absolutely no effect on whether or not he gets injured in the current engine. It only served to keep the injury minor enough that he can play through it if you need him to. Under the new engine that high rating will make him more likely to stay healthy, too.

It only served to keep the injury minor enough that he can play through it if you need him to. Under the new engine that high rating will make him more likely to stay healthy, too

I thought that was an accepted fact? And if it weren't reasonably true, why would they make an update that "tied the probability of injury to durability" if they were already connected?

And if it weren't reasonably true, why would they make an update that "tied the probability of injury to durability" if they were already connected? They could be making it more based on DU than just being random...to assume that they were previously unconnected I think is a way off mind set...that's why I wanted to see where this was the case IN WRITING. I have a hard time believing that previously, injuries had NOTHING to do with durability.

I think they were loosely related, actually. Overstated to prove a point. They are now more strongly correlated, though. That seems like it should help your problem here.
