How bout this idea......

Each of your drafted players must have a defensive rating of 30 or less, AND a usage % rating of 20 or more.

In other words, a battle of players who LOVE to shoot and score against a bunch of players who HATE playing defense.

Who can put together a championship winning team with those conditions?

The cap for this league has to be $32 mill due to the lower salaries of the guys who dont play D. There are still PLENTY of players available with these criteria, trust me. You may have to drop minutes played to over 2000 or 2500, but minutes should still be no problem at that cap.

Who's interested in this unique challenge and up for seeing lots of players that NOBODY would ever consider drafting?

In - I've been looking for a good theme. Will all 12 players follow this rule? Wondering if the last 2 or 3 scrubs will have the high usage.

OK, I just did a brief dry run drafting a team under this criteria. My starting five was at about $22 mill, leaving me with $10 million for a 7 man bench. I think that is just about right, dont you? With the extra money, everyone should be able to save enough money so their last couple scrubs make the usage limit (as jcred points out). If not, you will have to modify your starters with lower salaries so that EACH of your bench players have a high enough usage rating.

And yes, EVERY SINGLE PLAYER on your team has to be below 30 D and above 20 usage. You will be AMAZED how many defensive slacker cherry pickers there have been in this game.

I am giddy with the idea to see how you guys draft in this league. The standard "Get two 30+ rated 3 pt shooters and two dominant rebounders that leads to success in most leagues will be seriously tested in a league like this. Sure, you can find guys like that here, but THESE guys who do that at these salaries are so one dimensional, they may hurt you more than help.

Either way, drafting a team for this idea will probably be COMPLETELY different than in most other leagues.

Just thought of something else I didn't designate. We could and WILL have a waiver wire.

Owners who wanted to make a transaction could do so, but WITHIN theme rules. You would only be able to pick up a player who has a D rating of 30 or under and a usage rating of 20 or over. Any owner who would pick up an illegal player via transaction loses their playoff eligibility.

Raising the def from 30 to 40 gives you 2229 eligible players, up from 965. I might be interested.
