Does any GOOD Teams play Zone?

I would like to hear from some Coaches who have had success with Zone Defenses. Especially the match Up Zone where you double certain players while playing zone. I am kind of tired of hearing about the Press being Magic! Let's here some Zone success stories. If there is Any!!!

I ran the zone for a while. While my team would have been pretty good no matter what set I ran, we had solid results running the zone.

Look at your top-25 teams. You will come across some zone teams.

I have run primarily zone since I started HD. Now in regard to how much success I have had, I guess I would say I have had some. On the average I'm a 2nd round NT team every season. I certainly would like to be more dominant but it is still a better resume than most.

Interesting. I just quit zone after 14 or 15 seasons of trying to make it work. I kept waiting for the engine to make things a bit more realistic, but it never happened. My teams have always underperformed. It is either zone defense or poor coaching. And we know the latter can not be true.

you can be successful with zone but you have to have good rebounding, even at the guard position. i think this, couple with quick guards to defend the perimeter and good shot blocking bigs in the post. also, it is probably useful to know a 2-3 a +2 defense is similar to a 0 setting in m2m. you can do well with any defense but you need to understand what type of players work well in that system.

Great point! That's what most coaches don't understand(well atleast me)...when i ran my Zone i rarley set my D below 0...to much open looks.

A 2-3 Zone with a +2 or a 3-2 Zone with a -2 seem to work fairly well for a fair number of teams. Just my observation.
