Just got my first taste of the new engine in Tark. There seems to be a substitution problem when it comes to foul trouble, it seems to me that fatgiue is trumping foul trouble. For example in my preseason game I had 2 players foul out, 1 was a reserve big man who picked up 4 fouls in the 1st half and then picked up his 5th 4 minutes into the 2nd half when he was inserted into the game for fatigue purposes. Also my starting SF fouled out with 13 minutes in the game after picking up his 4th foul and not being subbed out. Although my backup SF had been hurt, but later returned, so maybe that's the reason. But still somebody else should've replaced him.

You have the ability to control how your foul substitutions are handled on your "Player Game Plan".

You can set the "Foul Trouble" to be "Less Aggressive", "Normal", or "More Aggressive". "Less Aggressive" will sub out more quickly for fouls if you prefer.

I've just never seen guys foul out like this before, let alone 2 in the same game. Seems to be more than a settings issue, although it could be.

Pressing now is going to cause more fouls.

35 fouls for me in my second exhibition game in Allen today running a straight man defense.

To me at least, it looks like you got uptempo'd into submission. Your players were playing tired and exhausted allot of the game.

I looked at 24 exhibition games in two Smith DII conferences. The average fouls/team was 17. The least fouls in a game was 19 (10 by one team). The most was 49 (26 by one team).

Tired and/or lower IQ players are fouling more, the way it should be.

What ratings actually affect fouls, because my CPOY center got 2 fouls in the first 2:06 of the game, thus I'm just curious what ratings affect it, or if its just dumbly random. We play M2M fwiw

I've found issues with fouls. I have a SG with 82/60/33/87 ATH/SP/DEF/ST and A- IQ who has fouled out 3 times and 4 fouls in other 2 games including 4 exhibitions and 1 regular season. I do run FCP but that does seem excessive to me. My guards have my highest IQs and are fouling at a much higher clip than my big men. Seems that fouls are a little off as well as 3pt frequency. These should be fairly easy fixes though....I hope.

It's not dumbly random. You need to understand that a one-time occurrence is literally meaningless. You need to understand that what you should be searching for is patterns. Why you don't get this, I have no idea. The best defensive player in the world could still pick up two fouls in two minutes -- the issue is whether this happens with regularity, or is just a one-off occurence.

Def, sp, ath, bl and iq are the areas that impact defense. (And sta indirectly because obviously if a guy is tired, he'll be more prone to defensive lapses, fouls, etc.)

And again, if there are legitimate issues with fouls (and perhaps there are, totally possible), send a ticket with concrete examples. That's 100x better than just posting here.

People post here not only to vent/question, but to also see if other people are having the problems as well.

Yes colonels, I know that. Thanks for the explanation. I'm not telling anyone not to post the issues they're seeing, I'm just encouraging them to send a ticket about it as well.

What I'm talking about isn't the actual fouls, I'm really asking why were players with 4 fouls still in the game with so much time ? The total # of fouls don't bother me, but if somebody has 4 fouls and there is 16 minutes in the game I wouldn't expect him to be playing, or if my best player picks up his 4th foul with 14 minutes he should come out the game.
