This guy is jumping to the NBA?? Topic

I have never seen anything like this. This junior PG was originally a 3 star guy and has never been a starter. His improvement was minimal in his junior year and he declares for the draft? I see teams with 900+ players (many of them!) coming back for their senior year and Brown figures he's ready for the show?

Wow! Is it possible for a player to declare and not get drafted, not hire an agent, and play another year at DI?
6/6/2010 4:35 PM
While I by no means think he'd be a slam dunk EE, he does have 99's in the 3 most important categories for a PG.

And...I wonder if that WE drop increased his chances of leaving early? He clearly wasn't too pleased with how he was being used. Manny Harris this season because he didn't like his coach...maybe Dan didn't like you playing him less his JR year than either of his 1st 2? And Manny Harris is way worse than this guy.

That guy should never leave early, and we drop has nothing to do with a guy going early entry.

Yes Brown (like about 50 other PGs in Div I) is 99 in speed ball handling and passing...BUT he is a 48 ATH and a 51 PER and a 63 DEF. I will guarantee I have had 20 PGs better than Brown who went undrafted. And I have never seen such a low end guy jump to the NBA. Of 5 juniors on my team...he is absolutely the weakest. Players do not declare for the NBA if they are unhappy with their playing time...they transfer.

In real life they do enter the nba draft and a guy like this would end up going overseas to play his career or to the d-league.

having moves like this make the game more realistic.

college age kids dont always do whats best for them, they do what they want to do.

just think about jeremy tyler who skipped his senior year of high school, went to isreal for 140k, then he quit his team over there with 2 months , then he just entered the nba draft and projected as a 2nd rounder

my point is a decision of a 18-22 year old wont always make sense, and there has to be situatons like that factored into the game for it to be more realistic.

look at the guys that entered the draft from mississippi state this past year, that doesnt make sense to me.

He heard about the new updated and knew he wouldn't be as good. Problem solved.

Yes, some guys leave early who make you shake your head in the real world. HERE in HD, it never has happened like this in my experience. There are dozens of way better players on other teams who stayed...this guy is not elite in any fashion. If he transfers...THAT is realistic. I don't know about the Mississippi State situation...but I suspect they had academic issues or perhaps they have a shot somewhere...Brown is not a player ready for the NBA.

It is really interesting to hear about real world situations that (you think) parallel this situation...but as far as I know it is unprecedented in HD. Those are the relevant examples to cite.

Might just be my opinion, but it seems that looking at it from the angle of, "This guy shouldn't have gone EE, because this other guy didn't" might not be the best way to look at it.

I know that's what most people do, though, and that's too bad.

tlmg, what you will learn as you play HD more is that there are many, many things that exist in real life that don't exist in HD, and for good reason. We should be looking for what makes sense for HD, not blindly copying real life.

And, as previously stated, this is the kind of player that you never see leave in HD.

Yeah but is the EE supposed to be random? That is just one angle I am looking at it from...the main angle is he just isn't very good, not even close to good enough for the NBA probably not good enough to play for pay overseas even. Or how about the angle that nobody thus far can give me an example of a 750 rated player (with 69 DUR and 95 WE) declaring for the draft after his junior year...how about that part of the angle?

your team was ranked at the end of the season which I believe has an extremely high correlation with ee's....

That seems to be the case yes. But I will repeat again, he is without a doubt the LEAST NBA ready junior on my team. I had another player defect who was pretty low end for an early declaration and will probably go late in the second round, I am disappointed by that..BUT I have seen similar things happen in the game so I am not concerned about it. But Brown is a whole other kettle of fish...is this something new in HD which they have not told us about? Is it some sort of programming error? Or has it happened before and I am simply unaware of similar events?
