Maybe I just didn't see it, but I haven't seen a developer chat in a long time. What were the results of the Coaches hiring poll? Any usable suggestions come out of it?

yes

it's been 8 or 9 months since the last dev chat...

We have tallied the survey results and found that the resounding majority of you wanted to see the loyalty rating significantly increased.

We are planning an update, to be released sometime in Mid July, with this change. In addition to that change we will also be introducing the ability to promote your lower level coaches during the rehiring phase and also correcting the logic involved when a Fielding instructor is offered a Bench Coach position.

Those three changes should improve the coach hiring process significantly.

Not what I voted for but it should help a little.

What is currently faulty about how the system deals with fielding instructors hired as bench coaches?
6/13/2010 12:20 AM
That fielding coaches are taking bench coach positions for 1/3 or less of the salary they could get as fielding coaches.
6/13/2010 12:35 AM
How about correcting the logic that causes a coach to take a HiA job for 1/6th the salary offered for him to coach in LoA? Those types of things are just as bad as the fielding coaches as bench coaches.

anyone regularly offering Low A coaches over 500K has problems that can't be fixed by programing changes.

I really hope that the rehire logic will be changed so that coaches stop offering to stay at a significant pay cut. Increasing the effect of loyalty without including this logic will make thing worse not better.

I completely agree - if you allow great coaches to resign for the minimum (and that is often true right now) then that allows a team to lock up a great coach and never worry about paying him the market rate again.

This guy has been signing for way below market rates for nearly 15 seasons now. If he hit the market he would make 2-3 times what he is making now.

Hopefully it will be more like real life. I doubt in real life you ever see minor league or fielding coaches being offered jobs and salaries like we see here.
