erffdogg World/Donations Topic

Hey all - by now I'm sure you've heard about the tragic passing of erffdogg. I didn't know him personally, but we all knew him as he was quite active in the HBD Community. He always had great things to say too. He was proof that a picture was worth 1000 words.

What I'm hoping to do is get WIS to open up a new world called simply "erffdogg". That is step 1. Step 2 is to get WIS to somehow donate a portion of the entree fees for the first season (or hopefully more) to erf's family. If anyone knew him personally, It'd be appropriate for them to be commissioner of this world (should WIS allow it). erffdogg was responsible for many people trying HBD, and even more of an influence on people as they learned and stuck with it.

This. Its what was MLB, he was commish and he taught probably 80% of the people in the world how to play. As far as the family, they asked for donations to be made to other places other than them (a baseball league and a pet shelter). They sound like as good of people as he was.

I'm sure you mean well. I would suggest people make donations to his family through the page linked in the RIP thread.

WifS should return credits he had purchased to his family, but that's a different issue.

There is already an Erffdogg Memorial League - formerly MLB, where he was commissioner.

You'll get 32 volunteers for a new world because any new world will get volunteers. I, personally, think this is in poor taste because is seems to be a way around new world requirements draped in a charitable endeavor. I apologize if that was not your intent - just that it seemed that way to me.

I was thinking of a way to honor him on a more permanent basis. I thought the memorial world was going to change its name back eventually? If you guys don't like the idea then i understand. I just think it'd be cool to name a world after him in the same way Ruth or Aaron is named.

no, the memorial world will stay that way forever. what you are suggesting already happened, we requested the name change the day we heard the news. If you want to be in such a world contact the commish dilo to get on the waitlist, I'm sure we'd be happy to have you when we have an opening.

It's time to move on.

How about sending season fees to MADD instead?

I think that is hitting below the belt!!

Who's arguing about the effectiveness of MADD or drunk driving laws or anything else? Some of us here were deeply affected by rudy's death and were fond of him and don't need you rubbing salt in the wounds. My dad died of cancer last year and I wouldn't have appreciated some anonymous smartass making antismoking comments a week afterwards. If you knew Erff you wouldn't be an *** and since you didn't know him, it's offensive to those of us that did. The only place where people do this **** is online and it's just not cool.

As much of an *** that gin_caesar can be sometimes, and as blunt and poorly thought out his MADD comment was, it should be pointed out that we don't know if alcohol played any part in erff's death. If it did, and if (God forbid) he had taken out other people along with himself, would you be acting so righteous and indignant to gc's comment?

Nobody here really knows what happened. Nobody here really knows what didn't happen.

Erff will be remembered here for years to come. He has a world named after him. He will always be a forum legend. But it's time to move on.

Of course you wouldn't appreciate the comments. And since the world revolves around you, it doesn't really matter when a guy goes on record as somebody who supports drinking and driving and even names an hbd team after it. I mean your dad died of cancer, right?

First off tec, it's not up to you to tell anyone to 'move on'. I did not know the man but I do recognize that some people here may have known him on a pretty personal level and they deserve the right to express there feelings without being told to 'move on' by someone else. Let the guys do what they have to do in order to return piece to their lives if that's what they need.

As for gin, get some class. Nobody knows what happened and even if they did there is no place for your comments. You can support whatever organization you want in your own way but making personal attacks in a chat forum is cowardice at it's peak. Your second comment to wholck only further supports the fact you are a classless loser.
