I was offered a 75/75 infielder that is hitting .194 and has a salary of $6,343,593  age 29, for a High A, SS  59/64 hitting .368 and a very good defensive player and is 23. I asked the veteran coach what am I suppose to do with this player have him park cars and clean the stadium? he told me I can't blame him for trying. This stuff happens alot I'm not saying all experienced coaches are out to take advantage of new players but this one seemed one sided.    Comments please

First of all, don't go by overall rating. Overall rating is best for determining how much a player will ask for in free agency or arbitration. But in determining how good a player is, look at individual ratings.

Second, just because a player is performing poorly now doesn't mean he's a bad overall player; maybe you should post the ratings of both players and we can see whether the deal is truly so one-sided.

That said, sometimes owners do propose deals like this because other owners are willing to do them. I've proposed similar deals to guys with dozens of seasons of experience and had them accept for reasons that are beyond me; it's just called getting the better end of a deal. As your other owner said, can't hurt to try...

Actually, it can hurt to try. Offering deals like that is no way to make friends in your leagues.

Let me guess, right handed hitting, low contact, low eye, medium power, average splits, more of a left fielder than 2B.  With two or three years left on his deal? Just say no!

As a newer owner in HBD, I know what your talking about receiving retarded trade offers.  Just counter with an equally lopsided trade in your favor.  After a few times, they give up.

I don't have a problem.   But it sure sounds like you do.

You admitted that you'll offer n00bs stupid, lopsided deals because "it doesn't hurt to try".    I disagree with your position.   A)  Stripping a team of it's talent is a fine way to turn a world into a world of haves/have nots.   B)  Raping a n00b because he doesn't know any better is a fantastic way to turn him off of HBD.   C)  Combine A and B and you've get worlds with 120 game winners, 120 games losers and a revolving door of new owners each season.  But, hey, it doesn't hurt to try, right?

Your rebuttal?
Do me a favor and quote the part of my post where I said I offer lopsided deals to n00bs.
