Probably won't happen, but here's how I envision that it could or should work:

For private worlds (only), upon rollover, there would be a "World Rules" page that everybody can view but only the commissioner can update.  Previous seasons rules would be carried over, so if there are no changes to be made from the prior season, there would be nothing that needs to be done.  Any changes to the rules would be doing during "budget day", much like our budgets are, and would then be locked in for the rest of the season after budget day.

Not a whole lot of rules to be entered, but I would propose the following:
  • Maximum amount of cash that can be included in a single trade ($0 to $5m)
  • Maximum amount of cash that can be transferred into prospect budget ($0 to unlimited)
  • Maximum total amount of cash that a team can receive for all trades they participate in for the season ($0 to unlimited)
  • Maximum salary per season that can be offered to a free agent or IFA (? to $20m)
  • Maximum bonus that can be offered to a free agent or IFA (? to $10m)
What am I missing?

Minimum or Maximum Player Payroll.

A checkbox to autofill MiL rosters if below a minimum roster size (could be for pitchers and position players).

plus a minimum number of draft picks to sign each season (for example:  zero to twenty).

i like those suggestions. Adding these will save the messiness that occurs when someon violates a rule.

I love this idea.  Maybe it would be better if the rule setting time is during the playoffs?

Minimum number of players per minor league level.

The ability to fine owners.

The ability to fine owners?  How exactly would that work?

This will never be a part of HBD.

just the part about fining owners? Or the items mentioned in tecs first post? I think setting some basic parameters to cover the most common rules is a great idea and eliminates a lot of the issues commishes have in private worlds.

There will never be any theme options at all or ever for HBD. The game is way to complicated to offer user based rule sets.

But we already have them Patrick. This is just a way so the commish doesn't need to rehash them over and over with the rest of the world. Boss man.

I'm not sure why some othese things couldn't be incorporated fairly easily.  Some of these limits (such as maximum cash included in a trade) are already incorporated into the game and I assume are hardcoded into the HBD engine somewhere.  Seems like it shouldn't be too hard to change these from hardcoded values to variables that are read in from a specific location (the "rules" page).  Once that framework is in place, subsequent enhancements can be added at a later date (such as limits for total cash received in all trades over a season).

GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT WE WANT!!!

We would have to re-write the entire game to incorporate these types of changes. The dynasty games were not set up to have "sliders".

Lesliechow, antagonizing the developers doesn't usually work.
