DII competing with DI for a recruit Topic

So in Tark, I am in DII and got a message from a transfer before recruiting started telling me that he was interested in attending my school. So we've been in recruiting for several cycles now, and this morning he had one school under "considering": George Mason, a DI program and a Sim AI to boot.

For some reason, I took it upon myself to offer him a campus visit anyway, since he would start for me this season and he expressed interest in attending. To my shock, not only did he attend the campus visit, but I am now listed alongside George Mason as the two schools he is considering, even though I am in DII.

Is it worthwhile to pursue this player? Is there any chance at all he signs with me, given that he is actively considering me?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

It is definitly a possibilty to beat a d1 school

I've only ever played D3.  I have beaten a D2 sim AI out of a recruit without having exceptional prestige, but the money difference isn't nearly as big.  That said, what I did was to flood the guy with HVs the cycle before the signing period started so I could lock him up before the sim put more money into him.  If FSS says the sim is tight with him you're probably done, though...

If you are on his considering list after only one CV, then the SIM must have very little money invested in him.

I'd say the chances of you getting him are very good.  Go for it.,

Thanks for the help guys! He seems to be responding positively to my advances and after a few CV's, some guaranteed minutes and starts, and a HV, I think he is starting to come around. Can't believe this is actually possible.

Apparently I missed something...sim's put in more money now?

No, sims don't spend more money on recruits.  Did you offer the schollie?  Once you get the "In the lead" scholarship message, he's yours.  You don't need to spend any more.

Should be easy to get him. For the most part the recruits that D1 sim AI's go after that are available to D2 schools they don't put in much effort  so it's not very hard to take recruits away from them.

this is simply untrue. Sims often put in all their effort at once, early, so are often earning an early entrant credit that can carry them past the competition.

Since the updates sims will spend more money after the signing period starts.  I've even seen a few other people claim a sim started recruiting a guy during the signing period if they lose one of their recruits to a human-coached team.  I haven't seen that personally, but it does seem that there are less walk-ons on sim-coached teams these days...

sims do recruit after the first cycle now, thats a fact. but they don't spend more on their initial targets.

Just an update: I ended up successfully signing Curtis Grimes, despite the presence of George Mason plus another human-controlled DII school. Not bad considering he was 2300 miles away. Thanks to everyone for the help and advice!

Way to go coach. Hope he turns out to be a stud for you.

Many people believe they don't spend any more money - they just have a very small amount in at the start, and it's not enough for the recruit to consider them until their threshold drops after signings start.

I don't know if this is true or not, but it wouldn't surprise me.
