add - understanding how distro affects shot attempts is one of the biggest things to learn about the game. In the old engine, it was a little harder to understand, but even in the new engine, it requires some patience, and to a certain extent an attitude of looking at things more from a 'how does it work' POV rather than 'how I want it to work' POV.
if someone is set to 10, and starts with 4 guys set to 5, in theory, he should get 1/3 of the called plays (this does not count fastbreaks or off rebounds)
but on the same team, if a backup is set to 4, and his teamates are all set to 1, that fellow will get 1/2 of the called plays.
Now if the backups play for 16 minutes and the starters for 24, and you get 40 called plays, on average
the 10% guy gets 8 shots off
the 5% guys get 4 shots each
the 4% guy gets 8 shots
the 1% guys get 2 shots
now here is the hard part, the +/- on less than 5 or 6 shot attempts in the game and in real life is probably about 100%, so the ranges are probably 2 to 14 shots for the 8 attempt guys, and 0 to 8 for the 5% guys, and maybe 0 to 6 for the 1% guys
so you will have games where the 1% guys try 4 or 5 shots, and the 10% guy tries 2 or 3 or 4 shots, but by the endo of the season, everyone will be around the expectation. This is how real life does work over the course of a season, more or less, but is enormously frustrating to anyone looking at one game's box score.
