SIM recruiting? Topic

I'm sure this has been discussed in other threads (and if anyone has any to reference, please do), but what's up with SIM recruiting?  There are multiple teams in Crum that have 11-12 freshman walkons and it seems to be getting worse instead of better.

I noticed the exact same thing.  I actually just sumbitted a ticket on the issue to CS.  It will be interesting to see what they say.  It is almost like the SIM teams aren't recruiting.

I submitted a ticket about this about a month ago maybe....specifically a couple teams in my conference that had 6 walk-ons (which at the time I thought was a lot), never got a response.  If you get anything back, please post.

I'm a B+ prestige and there are 148 jucos in D3 Crum.  If there are more than 148 SIM WOs (I haven't done the math), then clearly there aren't enough recruits being generated.

I just did a quick look at the bottom 20 teams in D3 Crum....165 WOs.

That is absurd.  They clearly aren't generating enough recruits.  That is the only logical answer isn't it?

Could be that not enough recruits are being generating but what about the possibility that the recruits being generated are just so bad that the sim would rather take walkons then offer them scholarships?

I don't think that's it scottyj, you're telling me there wasn't 1 decent recruit available for hobart & william smith in Crum?  "SIM" decided to take 12 walk-ons instead?

Neither option really makes any sense as far as I am concerned but either way something aint right....

We had this issue in Naismith 2-3 seasons ago...I can't remember the numbers but I posted a thread at the time showing the breakdown of all Sim teams and the number of walkons each was employing. The ticket submitted at the time (by someone else..cornfused, maybe?) was explained as being something along the lines of an echo effect from a recent free season promotion. But if this is still happening (or happening in another world now (I don't think we're dealing with high walk-on numbers in the current Naismith season that just began, and when I posted numbers for Naismith a few years back it sounded like other worlds weren't having the same problem...) then it would appear there's some bigger issue here within the programming...

I'll check the Naismith numbers for the new season when my kids give me enough time to wade thru Sim rosters

Here is the response I got from CS, which is complete BS if you ask me.  They are basically blaming it on human coached teams stealing SimAI recruits, which clearly happens in every world.

The way recruiting works, SimAI schools often end up taking walkons because it's not too hard for human coached schools to take their targeted recruits. It's an area we plan on improving at some point.?

I poach of sims if they are on the player i want.  There are variables of course but they are the easist target.  humans are unpredictable sims are not.

Just took a look for myself and have to agree...something is definitely not right. From what i understand (and vets correct me if i'm wrong) if the SIMs have 6 open scholies they divide their budget between 4 players and will take 2 walkons. This allows them to be a little more competitive with the players they target. I have never seen a school like Hobart & Williams that has 12 freshmen walkons. The process seems to be broken somewhere.

everythings ok the engine is not broken it never has been and cs is always right!

I'd say something is broken...and it's only going to get worse as upperclassmen on SIM teams graduate and there are more open scholarships....but the same amount of SIMS.  While it doesn't seem like all that new players are joining, if at some point there are, nobody is going to want to take over a team and have to recruit 12 players.
