Has anyone at a D3 school ever successfully recruited someone who began as a D1 recruit (no matter how poor a player)?

Or, if you haven't yourself, have you heard of any D3 school landing someone who began as a D1 recruit?

Yes, it is fairly common on recruits that start off as unranked D1 players within 70 miles of your school. Just watch those particular players to see when they drop down to D2 and at that time place a call to them to see if they can be pulled down. I have never knowingly recruited a player that began at D1 outside that 70 mile radius, so I can't speak on odds of that.

No, it won't happen. A div III team won't even be able to talk to the worst, most local div I listed guy. I have no idea what fat is talking about.

I also have a hard time believing what fat is saying, but I'm sure as hell about to try it.

Did you pull the guy(s) down from D1?

Or did they drop down to D2 because of lack of interest and then you pulled them from there?

they dropped to d2 then i yanked him

I've sent out a bunch of phone calls, but I'm fully expecting them all to be rejected.

OK, went 0/~40 in having phone calls favorably (e.g., - backup) taken/returned. Most did not even generate a message. Also 0/5 (often in broken English) for packages sent.

I just sent calls to all the unranked d1 guys within 70 miles and they were all rejected...skunk-are you saying that the guys who said they wouldn't talk to me will talk to me after they drop to d2?

tkimble - were they all "rejected" (you get your $10 back) or were there some (like with mine) who apparently took the call, but are either flat "no" responses or did not generate any response at all (but stil cost the $10)?

You have to wait for them to drop down to D2 first, then they might respond. 

As I originally stated wait for those guys within 70 miles to drop down to D2 before placing call or making contact. I don't it works on players from further away.

I certainly hope I don't have to deal with any DI players in the MIAC next season. I can't beat zbrent as it is!
