How is DII recruiting different than DIII? Topic

I am going to be taking a DII team soon and was wondering how recruiting is the same and/or different than DIII recruiting.  Am I going to be able to pull down DI players?  What kind of things should I expect? I would appreciate any feedback given.

you can pull down D! players, you get a bit more $ so you can go a little farther from home and still be OK.

when pulling down remember rank is not everything, the 150th ranked sf might have a higher overall rating, but could have all low potential making the 200th ranked sf better in the end.

i try to base a lot of my signing off WE and potential, not original rankings.

The principles are the same.  The recruiting aspect is nearly identicle.  Unelss your going for top notch guys then d1 teams rarely jump in.  YOu can poach d1 sims fairly easily.  I try to stay within 360 miles on all pulldowns.  That way if I am battling a d1 school I can.

You can scout out more.  Ineligibles can go juco.  Depending on your prestige you can get players ranked around 90-200 especially on SF.

I've been given to understand that prestige has a great deal of influence on pull-downs.  I'm at a  D+  D2 school right now, and until I can bump it a few notches I'm unwilling to waste money on players I probably won't get.

It makes for a Catch 22 situation.  I cannot hope to easily raise my team's talent level, and thus prestige, without better players but I can't get better players until I raise my prestige.

My solution has been to set a long-term goal of recruiting players with high potential and keeping a redshirt on roster as much as possible.  Surely it has to turn around one day, right?

Ethan, I wouldn't shy away from pull downs, especially if they within 100 miles.  Keep in mind that some of the players showing DI for you show as DII for the teams with higher prestige, so you almost always need to be reaching into the "DI" pool when you are at DII either via pull downs or drop downs.

In lower prestige pull downs are all the more important.  YOu will rarely see good drops because all the higher prestige see them first.  You got to pull down fast and furious!  Vin dielse style lmao

Interesting.  You mean my scouts are lying to me? :)

Last season, a couple of players I had flirted with waited until the last possible minute to let me know they weren't going D1 after all, by which time I had already spent too much of my budget on more get-able players.  I need to work on my timing, I guess.

Ethan- look at pull downs vs. drop downs.

Pull downs are players that say that they want to play at a higher level, but are willing to listen if that fails.  These players are pulled via scouting trips- and usually will be considering you after 5-15 scouting trips at D2.

Drop downs are the same players, but you take no action.  They may decide you're team is acceptable as soon as day 1, and as late as the end of the 4th day of recruiting.

As I posted in ethan's thread about player growth, the lower your prestige, the more aggressively you should pulldown. If you don't pulldown, you are left recruiting for only D2 players and D1 dropdowns, and the D1 dropdowns for a D+ prestige are going to pretty much the players that are passed by all the D1 teams and all the D2 teams with prestige C- to A+ (aka, every other D2 teams). This means you can't land a good class, ever.

is it harder to pull down in DII? More likely to have the recruit sniped by a DI school?
