nevermind, i was rejected. 4 national titles and i can't get a longshot with hawaii.

i dont think you can move straight from d3 to d1.

sure i can. i'm qualified for a ton of d1 jobs, and for hawaii i was listed as a longshot.

example: mbalding went from d3 moravian to d1 fordham.

I would think the baseline prestige of Hawaii would make the jump much more difficult than a jump to most other teams in the lower D1 conferences.

i agree, tons of people having went d3->d1, but i don't think its possible to go d3->big 6. but maybe it is.

I'm also qualified for a bunch of D1 jobs in the same conference as Skunk and my resume isn't nearly as impressive as his.

That's good to know. I just never checked the D1 teams I qualify for when it's job change period, and I think I'm still quite a long way off from D1. Got to get off the D3 wagon and into D2 first.

yup. not that i don't love the conference, but i found the hawaii job compelling. i have no interest in d2 knight and the other d1 jobs just don't spark my interest.

seriously? what a joke. if i sit out a season i'd probably be qualified. i think i might just sit out.
  • Overall Experience..............i have plenty of experience
  • Recent Success (primarily over the past 4 seasons) .............4 national titles at d3, one in the past four seasons
  • Reputation................excellent
  • Loyalty.................outstanding

I don't understand what you're upset about, skunk. Look at the resume of the coach that got the job over you. Yes, what you have done at D3 is quite an accomplishment, but dwoelflin was one of the better coaches in D2 knight before taking UAB, went NT in his first year, and then PI'd with a crew of underclassmen this year. If you were applying for an elite D2 job, then yes, you'd have a beef. Even if it was a step backwards, you weren't going to get it either way.

Nobody goes from Division 3 to Big 6 job in real life, at least in the past 50 years or so. Longshot is just that, a longshot.

What was the message that the AD sent you? "Need more ____", or "went with someone else" ?

overall experience is the one i think that burned you. for mid/high level d1 jobs, overall experience is not just wins, its d1 wins. you have 0 d1 wins and 0 d2 wins. i think that is probably what held you back.

I recall reading about someone winning a NC at Hawaii back in the past.  I believe the coach went heavy on international recruits.  This was an older engine, before the current recruit generation and I believe before potential and FSS.

at the time of my rant dwoelflin was not named the hawaii coach. but that brings up more issues. how was he named the coach when my news feature showed nobody being named the hawaii coach? wouldn't he not land that job at the five pm mark, but he was installed as the new hawaii coach in between the 2pm and 5pm session. are coaches named at each three hour interval? right? just seems odd. not to mention leaving uab to go to hawaii is a sideways move at best.

and with all that out of the way i think my resume is better.
