World 23Mattingly23 update: If you're looking for parody, this might not be a bad world to join.  With about 10 games left in the current season, there is only one 100 win franchise at the ML level.  I see that one more team may get there, but this is a balanced world with virtually every team putting together a competitive ML squad.  Kudos to soxfan_9 for running a tight ship.
I'm confused. Parody or parity?

A handful of worlds dont have commisioners.  Why is that?

ARod perspective from someone in the league: Dont let the previous post fool you into thinking we are a bad league because of 1 bad apple. We are a very solid league with good GM's. dengodd is a sold commish and will handle the situation.

Season 17 update:

Last seasons world series champ dblaine(fargo flockers) has shaken off a half season hangover and has won 20 out of his last 24 to pull within a game of 1st in the AL North with a 61-57 record. The AL north is seperated by 2 games 1-4. Anaheim(EBzer) leads the AL west with a 75-43 record, 4 time world series champ Syracuse(gydk) leads the AL east at 71-47, and the Houston Oilers(ml4ku) lead the AL south with a 76-42 record. In the wildcard 7 teams are separated by 6 games. In the NL, two teams have shown themselves to be a cut above the rest of the league. The Chicago Blagos(langer1979) and the St Louis Redbirds(ronazbill) sit at 84-34 and 83-35.

Career batting average leader for all worlds Omar Castillo is having another solid season, .372 25 hr 82 rbi 1.106 ops

An Update From The Uecker World Reporter. The 14th regular season has just concluded with several teams fighting for a postseason position up until the end. Each league was left with a 90 win team on the outside looking in at the playoff action. In the AL, 91 wins couldn't  get Salem in as they fell two games short of the final wildcard slot while 81 victories was enough for Montgomery to take the very weak South. The NL also had a team miss the playoffs as Cincinnati and Philadelphia finished with 90 wins, but after the tie-breaker rules were applied Philly came out victorious.

So with the playoff pairings now set here are how the brackets are set. In the AL: #3 San Diego vs. #6 Pawtucket with the winner taking on #2 Kansas City, and #4 Montgomery vs. #5 Trenton with the winner taking on #1 San Juan. Over in the NL: #3 St. Louis vs. #6 Philadelphia with the winner taking on #2 Toledo, and #4 Houston vs. #5 Boston and the winner taking on #1 Helena.

Recruiting is already underway for season 15 and a waiting list has been started. If you’re interested in joining a world with anti-tanking rules in place check the post in the classifieds or contact pb15 for further information.

An Update From The Addicted Users World Reporter. The offseason work has been done and with Spring Training finally over it is time for season 18 to get underway. It was an unusual offseason as several teams changed ownership including the World Series runner-ups. However goldenboy69 is still guiding his World Series Champs and isn’t resting on his laurels as he has made several moves to hopefully boost his chances of repeating this season.  This offseason had many top players and prospects changing teams as trades were plentiful and money for free agent signings was plentiful.

In other news the owners have been in serious discussions on ways to control the problem of tanking that seems to continue to plague the HBD community. The topics under consideration are changes to the minimum win levels and a possible cap on the prospect budget. A survey has been sent out to poll the owner’s thoughts on both, and the results will be revealed shortly.

The AU blog has been updated with articles critiquing how teams did drafting in the first few seasons of the worlds existence and the careers those players had. There is also a team by team preseason review as the contenders and pretenders for the upcoming season are evaluated.

Breaking News from World Addicted Users:  The HOF has announced it's first inductee.  In something of a surprise, the Hall's spokesman delivered the name of Joey Montgomery  who will be the first player to be enshrined.  While Montgomery certainly put together a worthy career, he was not the only candidate nor the most impressive player on the ballot.  It will be interesting to see what happens in next year's voting as the list of players with stellar credentials growing, making selection of the most worthy that much more difficult.

"World Reporter update for A.Rod": With roughly 30 games to go before the playoffs, the last week of play has seen a handful of teams go on 5 and 6 game winning streaks to put themselves in contention for a playoff spot. Montreal(dengodd), whichita(barjaz) and montgomery(safetyman) have all gone 8-2 in the last 10 to catch or pass the Arizona Sun Dogs(40_dog) who has gone 2-8 over the same period. All but 2 divisons appear to be locked up, but the wild card races look to come right down to it.

A few notable pitching performances:
David Polanco(stl)              19-2   2.46era  1.14whip
Jhonny Robinson(ch1)      17-3  2.93era   1.24whip
Jack Redmond(syr)            17-4  2.90era   1.04 whip
Karl Hurst(tre)                      15-6  2.52era   1.02whip   .193oav

Update from the Uecker World Reporter: There weren’t any real surprises in the first round of the playoffs. Although the South Division Champs from Montgomery were seeded 4th, their .500 season record made them the underdog in their series with Trenton, who swept them in 3. In the other 1st rd clash San Diego out lasted Pawtucket in 5 games. Setting the 2nd rd matchups up with San Diego going up against Kansas City, and Trenton will square off with San Juan.

Over in the NL, both series went 4 games. Boston won the 1st game before losing the last 3 to Houston and St. Louis sent Philadelphia home for the winter in the other bracket. This matches Houston with Helena while St. Louis tries to find a way past Toledo in the 2nd rd.

An Update From The Uecker World Reporter: The divisional rounds of the playoffs have just been completed and things went expected in all but one series. In a startling development the #1 seed in the AL, San Juan, was swept by the hottest team in the playoffs. Trenton came in as the #5 seed, yet has easily defeated two division winners and has yet to lose a game in the playoffs this year. Next up will be #2 Kansas City, another hot team that won its series in 4 games, with each of their wins coming via a shut out.

The National League playoffs were much closer as both series went the full 5 games. #1 Helena took the first 2 games of their series before letting Houston back in the series by losing the next 2 only staving off the upset when they took the decisive 5th game. St. Louis also won but decided to see how much pressure they could handle before doing it. Toledo took the first 2 games giving them 3 chances to knock out their lower seeded opponent. It wasn’t meant to be as that elusive 3rd victory never did materialize.

So in the League Championship Series the matchups are #2 Kansas City vs. #5 Trenton in the AL. While in the NL #1 Helena will face #3 St. Louis.

Other News: It appears there will be 3-4 openings for next season. With 2 owners already lined up it looks like 1-2 openings and a quick turn around to begin Season 15. Anyone interested in joining this strong & competitive group of owners please check the classifieds or contact pb15.

World Reporter Update For Arod: There are 15 games left and things are still very tight in the wild card races.

AL Report: Arizona            83-64  Getting hot at the right time. 13-2 over the last 15 games.
Montgomery    82-65  Dangerous team lead by MVP Candidate Carlos Valdez .304 48 111
Trenton            80-67  1-4 over their last 5...but was 19-2 in his previous 21 to vault into the middle of the wild card.
Montreal          79-68  3 straight 90+ win years. Going to have to get real hot to have another.
Buffalo             79-68  Deadbeat owner. Glad they have fallen off the pace a little.
Wichita            78-69  4 playoff apperances in last 5 years with 1 WS title.

An Update From The Uecker World Reporter: The World Series teams are now set. The clock finally struck midnight for the Cinderella team from Trenton. After sweeping their opponents in the first 2 rounds they captured the first game of the ALCS. However, the #2 seed out of Kansas City showed why they were in the playoffs by taking the next 3 games. The Diablos were able to take the next 2 games to set up a 7th and deciding game but 17 game winner, Josh Brooks, shut them out propelling his team into the Series.

In the NLCS, Helena put St. Louis in a quick hole by using their home field advantage in taking the 1st two games. St. Louis made a contest of it by winning two games but couldn’t overcome losing one of their home games or find a way to win on the road.

So with the World Series teams set the NL’s #1 seed Helena will take on the AL’s #2 seed Kansas City. The team appear evenly matched with only a game separating their regular season records so a hard fought battle is expected.
