Thanks for the note. In our Hardball Dynasty game, the max pitch count is strictly adhered to. Once he reached it, he was pulled even though he had a no -no going. In our SimLeague Baseball game, we allow for some leeway in this situation but it was determined early on that most HBDers preferred us to follow the settings exactly.

I didn't think this was the case but since it is do you agree with it because I can't imagine any owner who knows what they're doing care if their pitcher throws 15 extra pitches to try for a no hitter.

Well since you have already stated that any owner who disagrees with you has no idea what they are doing I would not expect too many responses.

not what I meant at all . expected some dumb responses just not first.

I feel like I know what I'm doing.  I couldn't care less if one guy gets pulled after 8 2/3 with a no-hitter.   What do I get if he gets one?  The opportunity to post "Hey, look!  My pitcher threw a no-no" and get one "Congrats", one "Big deal" and three "STFU".

Your pitcher get an Acheievement note of "No-Hitter" that's more important than not burning him out, obviously.

Ok here is why they do this in HBD and not in the sim.

To: Customer Support.

You guys better fix this. My ace pitcher just went down for the season and lost 9 points with an arm injury that happened after he threw his 118th pitch. My max pitch count is 110. I don't give a gosh darn if he was pitching a perfect game take him out when I tell you to!!!!!

And that would be the polite version of that tickett.

I believe the only way around it would be to have a manager setting where you tick a box if you are wiling for a pitchers to be left in past their max count during no-hitters (and perhaps a drop down for how many pitches allowed over).

If they include that, then they might as well include a "don't use defensive replacements on a player who may hit for a cycle regardless of the defensive replacement settings" box. While no hitters are cute and everything, I would rather the game hold my pitchers to the pitch count that I set to reduce injuries and general sub-par pitching. The game is about wins; if you're interested first and foremost in stats and accolades then go play The Show.

Better yet would be that it would be all right unless he is going to get hurt, then take him out!!

There is no "I" in team.

In other words, I don't really care about individual player accomplishments in individual games.  I care more about the accomplishments of a roster of 25 players over 162 games.

No hitters are really nothing more than meaningless trivia within the context of the game.

This is actually a good point. Alot of guys on here want the SIM to mimic MLB as best as possible, otherwise it wouldn't really be a simulation would it? How many big league managers (guys who know what they are doing) would pull their SP with a no-hitter or perfect game in the 9th inning? Hell, even in the 7th or 8th inning a manager will leave his guy in there until he gives up a hit, just so he can say he gave his guy a shot to do something that history suggests is very rare. You can argue the other side all you want, but I don't know if there is one instance in the history of baseball where a manager pulled his SP in the 9th with a perfect game going, just because the pitcher has hit his 'target pitch count'. Would I be ****** off if my guy got hurt because he was left in after he reached his max pitch count? Probably. But not if he was throwing a perfect game or no-hitter because I understand that if I was managing I would leave him in there to finish his business.

David Cone was pulled after throwing seven innings of no-hit ball due to pitch count restrictions.

If the manager did not have to care about sports talk radio, ESPN, fans and the ego of the pitcher involved it would happen more often.

If you care about such things as no-hitters, sit your pitch settings to maximum = none (and target to whatever). And pull rating at something other than one.

And then the next thread is going to be about how your guy threw a 130 pitch CG when he had a 6-0 lead after 4 and obviously any manager would have pulled him with the game in hand.

The engine does a fantastic job of managing pitchers. But it isn't a psychic, and can't know that you want the rules you set violated under some arbitrary set of circumstances.

I wouldn't say "It happens all the time" because not many pitchers carry no-hitters into the 8th.  But it does happen and someone provided an example.
