Center at PF for motion offense Topic

One of the teams I just took over (St. Joseph's ME) is pretty crappy, but my best inherited player is a senior Center with skills for DIII. I also just recruited a JUCO Center with just  1 year of eligibiltiy left. I'd love to start this Juco Center all year since he only has 1 year left and he's pretty good, would it work if I moved one of these Centers to Power Forward? Is that a hard change for these guys to grasp? It's my first season btw. Thanks

Ignore the position labels and look at individual ratings. I don't know as much about how each offense works as some other coaches here, but all else being equal I would put the guy with more speed at PF

Here are the two centers:
Joseph Korman
ATH 33
SPD 19
REB 80
DEF 51
SHTBLK 67
LOWPOST 51
W/E 33
STAMINA 69
DUR 53

John Renfro
ATH 46
SPD 2
REB 89
DEF 39
SHOTBLOCK 83
LOWPOST 68
Ball Handling 1
Work Ethic 20
STAM 51
DUR 74

These are my two best players and both seniors so I need them both to start. Korman at PF and Renfro at C... good idea?

Doesn't matter who you put in against Suffolk this year. Haley is going to tear you up ;-)

+1

There are no penalties for playing a player our of their listed position.  Now if they don't have the skillsets...

Played this guy at PF his Sr Year after playing C the previous year:

I feel like Renfro with his 2(TWO) speed has to be the Center. Korman's ratings look like he'd be okay at PF.

How could someone 6-10 224 be that slow

I have had success with centers at PF, although my listed centers at PF were a bit more athletic that the guy you will be playing there.

That said, as someone mentioned, the "Center" label is irrelevant. Go by the ratings only. If he is fast with a great handle and passing, go ahead and play him at PG.

the position labels dont matter - the question is their skillz ratings - if you have two C's with the right ratings play them at the 4 and the 5 - or if you have a SF with the right ratings use him

I would start your two best bigs regardless of how their ratings look.

This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.
Renfro at Center makes sense.  But with that stamina he won't see much time on the court without getting tired.  I usually put more the faster or more alth guy at PF. Hopefully the PF has better BH and Pass than Renfro too and.  I think passing is important in motion among big guys.

Their used to be an out of position penalty if you moved a guy more than 1 spot from his listed position (ie., PG to SF or SG to PF)...Is that not the case anymore?
