I think one thing most of us agree on is that we would like more games in the HD season.  This would bring the HD season more in line with real life, provide an opportunity to finally implement pre-season tournaments, would allow teams in bad conferences a greater opportunity to succeed via the NC schedule and would serve as a natural reset of team records (although perhaps that is not something everybody wants).

The main problem with more games in a season is that you are asking WIS to accept less revenue.  Obviously that is not a realistic request.  So if we want more games we need to figure out how to make it revenue neutral for WIS.  Here are some of the compromises I could come up with:
  1. Fewer exhibition games
  2. Reduced rewards
  3. Raise the price
  4. Convert some/all one-a-day worlds to two-a-day worlds
  5. Reduce the length of recruiting
  6. Eliminate the off days in the conference schedule
  7. Something else I haven't thought of?
Obviously some of these are easier than others and some have implications that probably make them non-starters (4 & 5).  Personally I would prefer 6, 2 and 3, in that order.

What would you be willing to give up to get more games on the schedule?

I will not support any effort to reduce rewards or raise prices.

ETA: I think the number of games is fine, and I certainly don't want the records I've generated at my schools being wiped.

Although I'm fine with a 26-game schedule, I would be willing to give up #6 and #1, even eliminate the exhibition games entirely.  Also, eliminate the off day that falls after the NC schedule.  If we eliminated those we could add more NC games.

I'd like to see a 3 or 4 game a day world where you could pre-gameplan for teams in advance.

At one time, the real-life limit on the number of regular season games a team could play was 27 (all games in a single in-season tournament counted as a single game towards that limit). I'm pretty sure WIS designed the 26-game schedule with an eye on eventually adding the ability to implement in-season tournaments, which would have been the 27th game.

NCAA rules have changed since then. Current NCAA rules allow for 27 regular schedule games + up to 4 additional games in an in-season tournament. Teams not participating in an in-season tournament are allowed 29 regular schedule games.

I think that extra day is to have coaches who haven't reupped to reup, after getting w/e credits he has earned and have a chance to use it. Removing it is a terrible idea.

That isn't what he is saying - he is saying get rid of the off day between the NC and conference schedule.

I was referring to the open date after game #10 when I mentioned "the off day that falls after the NC schedule."

But, having considered it again, I'm against any change. With multiple teams, I find it a relief not to have to gameplan every team every day.  I like the off days

Ok, you meant non conference. I thought you meant the National Championship game.

That off day isn't there for everyone though -- occasionally there are "Day 11" non-con games scheduled. Before that day could be eliminated, the non-conference rescheduling process would have to be redone (reprogrammed) so that all teams have their non-con schedule in days 1-10.

Mathematically, it can be done as every division has an even number of teams. Just pointing out that the scheduling generation part of the program currently isn't programmed in a way that makes eliminating "Day 11" possible.

didnt you guys see the dev chat about turbo world - the limited entrance season in four days concept - recruiting cycles every hour, games every hour except two hours in the postseason - I thought that all started April 1?

Removing 1-2 off-days during conference play and adding 1-2 noncon games would be nice.  Especially now that injuries are so rare.

6 or 1!

6 is fine. Also the last day of recruiting seems to be useless. When the cycle after signings is done, we go through about 6 cycles beforeplayers seem to sign again. I don't think 2,3, or 4 would be in favor of most coaches here. I, for one am all up for non conf tournaments, IE the elite 8 from the year past, the best 8 non big 6 teams from the year past etc. Seems we had a plan to do this about a year ago, but got sidetracked.
