Congrats to an NBA legend. I have been a fan since his great college career at Cal. Truly a class act.

Carl, Kidd may be all class etc. but the fact that he has beaten his wife cannot be contested. He was arrested and plead guilty to domestic assault.

Hopefully he has worked through issues, therapy, faith, forgiveness, etc. I hope that god will forgive me for my life fk's. Never right to hit a women but many have made amends and become caring, loving people after terrible choices. I will leave it at..kidd has had a long, winding journal to a title. Congrats to a great player..great human being? I'll leave that for God to judge.

Kidd always struck me as someone who could play PG for a championship caliber team. Maybe not lead it there but, especially with age and experience, you know the 5 spot was in capable hands. Congratulations.

can't do much damage with that now, can we? perhaps it should have been the rule of the wrist?

Thicker than your thumb, not your pinky.  Rule's name comes from the thickness...

Whatever domestic crap went down is off the court. There's nothing to prove he didn't plead guilty just to finish the issue and get back to his game. On the court, he has been a class act and a hof pg. Congrats to all the Mavs, including Mark Cuban who proved this year that even nba owners can grow up and let the focus of games be on the people it should... the players.

"There's nothing to prove he didn't plead guilty just to finish the issue and get back to his game."

I believe the constitution guarantees a presumption of innocence until proven guilty.  I don't think anything more needs to be "proven" once he is actually convicted.

Regardless, congrats to the Mavs as a team.  As people, I couldn't care less about any of them.  And that goes for all sports.

Out of curiosity, how many of you who are willing to dismiss Kidd's off-the-court actions are so eager to do the same for other "stars"?

Please...people cop deals all the time. Plead guilty for a lesser sentence or suspended sentence, drop charges for an out of court monetary settlement etc. My comment referred to Kidd's personality on the court and in the media. A player like Kobe Bryant who, though very talented and motivated to excel, has been a dick on and off the court. And yes, the "Kobe girl" filed rape charges, then made sure they were dropped when she refused to testify....an out of court settlement was made on her civil suit....
