Post your lowest drafted legit ML'er Topic

In a slow moment I was checking what was the lowest I ever picked a player that actually had a legit major league career (not just a cup of coffee in the majors.)  I found my guy was Jerome Harris (wisjournal.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx) that was picked at #571 and ended up spending 8 years in the majors.  Had a career ERA of 5.30 and had 58 saves which isn't spectacular, but had a career year in S13 when he had 17 saves 0.89 WHIP and 0.54 ERA in 49 2/3 IPs.  Not bad for an 18th rounder.  Wondered what other owners had found late round ML'ers.

Pick #600.  A DitR was involved.

I know this isn't what you are looking for, but this guy will likely get at least a cup of coffee in the majors: Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Sammy Telemaco.  Not bad for an 80k IFA.

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Matt Johnson   He was probably a ditr, I wasn't the owner when he was drafted, but had a decent career.

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: David Vazquez   Snagged this guy for relatively nothing in a trade, some good numbers for going 467th.

That guy should never play in the majors

Don Wilson

He was a 13th round pick who played catcher. In his prime he had a 90 power rating and a 88 pitch calling. I don't know if he was a DITR because I got him in a trade and the coach that made the trade told me he did not know if he was a DITR.

He had 9 straight seasons for me with over 300 ABS, 2 of those seasons he had a 100+ RBI.  For a 13th round pick he had a fine career.

Gus Matthews is the one on my brain lately

I drafted Carson Nichols in the 22nd round.  As I remember, he was NOT a DITR.  Looks like he got a cup of coffee in the majors after I moved on from this world.  He had legit ML (though certainly far from stellar) ratings

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Danys Romano was drafted in the 20th round and had a pretty decent career, hitting 241 HRs with an OPS of .870 while splitting time between 1B and DH.

He was not a DiTR, but he was drafted before they added manual sorting for setting your draft board. In those days, it was more likely that a low OVR guy would slip to the lower rounds.

Pre-DITR  Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Martin Chong drafted #613 in the 19th round. Ended with an .864 OPS in 622 ML games.

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Claude Foster

Round 22.  Served as a closer for a couple of the seasons.  Another team drafted him as a Rule 5 from me, and I got him back two seasons later.

If I put Foster in the ML's... his era would be triple digits.
6/27/2011 8:22 AM
Foster was in the majors with those splits?  Good for you pulling that off I guess...I'm with a-ersberg, in the world I plan in, he'd have a 10+ ERA.  I have guys with splits of 60's/60's that get lit up.

Pitches can be just as important as splits. I had a international signee, a reliever with splits in the 70s, but no pitch over 60. Brought him up, and he got lit up like Christmas.

I had a guy once I picked him in the draft and he played hard and that was all I could ask of him.
