I would never use 41 Williams nor 01 Lajoie in an OL.  Way too much $.  I rarely use position players over $7M at that cap.

There are many many "cookies" at 80M - players who deliver value way above the norm for their salary level.  Check out the rosters in any OL and you'll likely notice many players in the $3-5M range who appear over and over again.  There's a reason for this.

I agree with contrarian and Bootone.  OLs are mostly about drafting/ constructing a high value team and there are tons of high value guys in the $2.5M to $5M range.

That's a super cookie team epolice!!!!  But I agree with Contrarian, Bootone and Zubinsum, as the key in OLs is to draft value for your buck.  And as they noted, there are tons of good players in the $3-$5mil range who will give you just that.  However, if I have to go with one player in an OL, I'm with rbow23, because you can't go wrong with 08 Joss. He's pretty much money in the bank EVERY time, and as starting pitchers go, I'd say he's, by far, the best bargain in the sim insofar as cost and productivity.

I tend to like the '02 Bill Bernhard to the '08 Joss as far as value goes... though you can't deny that Joss is a great value, quite arguably the best value currently out there.

I just finished an OL regular season with 110 wins.....without Addie Joss! Pocket 80-120 steals with 1987 Vince Coleman.

And don't forget my boy Jim Moroney. LOL  His raw numbers may not look like much, but I guarantee you, for $284K, you won't find a better pitcher who will give you 4-5 decent starts, inlcuding complete game wins.

contrarian is right on.
Contrarian may be correct but doesn't anyone get tired of using the same old players time after time after time.   There are thousands of players to choose from but they never surface because they are not cookies.  I don't place the blame on the team owners but I place blame on what if sports.  I am tired of playing against Coleman, Segui, Dilone and Jack Taylor.  These guys didn't do anything in their professional career with the exception of Coleman who had a handful of decent years.  There were more pitchers in baseball than just Maddux, Martinez, Joss, and Ed Summers.  This is a very addicting game and I respect everyone's opinion about it but I grew tired of it.  It is time for them to do away with the cookies and just maybe WhatifSports may get a larger following.

I like 2009 Zobrist.  He is an acceptable fielder at first, second, ss, third and the OF.  He allows me to draft a very productive offensive player with limited plate appearances 400-500 and allows me to rest the limited person using a competitive AAA player at the needed position or to have Zobrist cover it and use a AAA player in his spot.  Bip Roberts plays a acceptable 2nd or 3rd so the combination of Roberts and Zobrist open up the lineup to utilize the best performing AAA on your bench.
