Promised playing time Topic

This is my first season of HD, so I have not yet run into this problem. When I promise a player say 15 minutes a game PT, do I have to give him 15 minutes on average for the whole season, or does it need to be 15 minutes every game?

I assume it's 15 on average, but I didn't see it in the guide and just wanted to make sure. Thanks in advance

Average.

In a related issue, sometimes you'll have an upperclassman complain about his playing time.  He'll usually say "I was expecting 3-4 minutes more".    So, if he'd been averaging 9 minutes/game,  you need to get him up to 12-13.  BUT, he only needs to average 12-13 min. from that point on.  His overall average doesn't have to be that high.

Oh, ok. Thanks for the tip!

this feature really annoys me...not so much the feature but the application of it. and maybe it's just me, but it seems to be happening a whole lot more lately, mostly with non promised jucos who need some time to learn the Off/Def.

if a guy is getting so few minutes and you made a promise, great.  if he's getting so few minutes and he's clearly at the same level or better than other players (obviously it's somewhat subjective, but i think we can all tell when it's a reasonable argument) then that's great too.  but when a guy wasn't made any promises and is clearly worse off than the guys that are in front of him, they shouldn't be whining, especially when you get the "seems like your average kid when it comes to playing time, starting, etc" message in his scouting reports

Yeah I think this falls in line as another one of those things that isn't the same as real life, but that makes the game a little more interesting. Would love to have seen some scrub tell Bobby Knight that he needs more playing time. If you thought the Neil Reed thing was bad...

hehe, neil reed, that's a name I haven't heard in forever. The worst part of that whole spectacle was that he transfered to Iowa for his Senior year and knocked us out of the Big Ten Tourney with a last second shot. I bet there weren't too many baby boys given the name neil in the state of indiana for the next couple of years.

You're thinking of Luke Recker.  And to make it worse, he faxed his transfer notice 2 days after assuring Coach Knight he was coming back.  And FYI there had been several players voice concerns over PT to the coaching staff at IU under Knight.  And they were generally told exactly why they werent getting more PT and what they could do to get more.  He is called the General for good reason, but he had more 'humane' moments behind closed doors than most would realize.

ya, my bad, it was luke recker. I agree, fear wasn't his only method of motivating players by any means, but the media at large tended to focus on his more 'intense' moments for obvious reasons.

When my time on earth is gone and my activities have past, I want that they should bury me upside down so the critics can kiss my ***. Bobby Knight: coach, general, living legend.
