All 4 #1 seeds from 1 conference Topic

In D1 Phelan the ACC just did something I've never even seen any conference almost do with 4 #1 seeds, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Miami and UNC all were awarded 1 seeds. I've never seen more than 2 teams get 1 seeds from 1 conference. The ACC sent a total of 10 teams to the NT and have the biggest RPI edge I've seen with a .6253 while 2nd place is only a .5670. Seems to be parity among all the other conferences while the ACC is just dominant.

Has the 4 #1 seeds from 1 conference ever been done before at any level?

Didn't we have 3 #1's from the SoCal in Knight a few seasons ago in the season that we sent all 4 teams to the F4?  I thought we did, but maybe we only had 2.

This is definitely impressive.  Not excited to potentially have to play one of them in the 2nd round if we are fortunate enough to win our first game.

We should've had 3 but only got 2, you got robbed of a #1 seed. Only myself and La Verne got 1 seeds that season.

Well done Phelan ACC.  Quite the accomplishment

I'm interested to see if a #1 seed wins in all.  Please keep us updated.

Kind of having to reverse engineer here (through your Arkansas team), but I am surprised they got 4 No. 1's.  3 seems reasonable.  I guess I am assuming BC (ranked 10, with a 20-7 record, RPI of 4) got the 4th one.  That seems to be a pretty lucky seed really, given the record and current rank.  Perhaps since, like you said, the chasm between the ACC and the rest is quite large...
Yes.  The gap was large.  The distance between the ACC conf RPI (.6253) and the 2nd best conf RPI (.5670) was larger than the gap between the 2nd place conference RPI and the 8th place conference RPI (.5169).  The only other teams in the conversation for the 4th #1 seed were Connecticut (5th ranked, 8th RPI), Mich State (8th ranked, 5 RPI) and Colorado (6th ranked, 9 RPI).  But the difference in SOS was pretty large.  BC had the 4th toughest schedule, MSU the 10th, Conn the 52nd, and Colorado the 38th.  You could make the case for Mich State but that's about it.  But BC was 8-4 vs the Top 25 and Mich State was 4-4.

Nothing to see here.  Move along.
The game engine must be broken in Rupp. The ACC is quite terrible there -- not just the weakest BCS conference, but they look to be falling behind C-USA as well.

In Rupp, it's the SEC that's the dominant conference. Another very recent thread (can't remember which world) touted the fact that the BEast and Big 12 dominated that world.

That's how things go in HD -- they evolve differently, and different teams/conference have an opportunity to dominate.

Now they go 9-1 in the 1st round with a 14 seed beating a 3 seed. Looks like this might be a really historic season for the ACC.

I think you meant to say ...

"That's how things go in HD -- they evolve differently, and different BCS teams/conference have an opportunity to dominate. "
You're right, mully -- that is actually what I meant.

It was really addressed to js, who thinks the ACC is simply a dominant uber conference everywhere, and that the poor sisters in the other BCS conferences can't possible compete.

(And yes, I look forward to the day where I can make that original statement about more than just the BCS conference.)

I think I would have gotten the 4th #1 seed if I had won the Big 12 CT, damn!
