Sorry car, but the general consensus through the years has been they  don't wait for anyone. Hurricane have hit those in Florida before. Earthquakes have struck all over. I have been without power because of Midwest storms, floods and people of all religious faiths have had holy days affected.
MOST importantly I am glad you are well enough to complain and hope that none of our brothers has suffered anything worse than missing out on a point guard.

This is what I was going to say... They don't ever pause recruiting or the game for anything other than maintence... Hope you are alright and all but that's just not how WIS has ever worked... I know I have had some tricky times with access due to the flood we had here a few years ago and snow storms in the past... sucks.

glad your okay - but the policy has been as folks describe.  I think the theory has been that it is a slippery slope - how big an issue gets a delay.....what holidays get a pass.....no good way to draw lines and so WIS doesnt stop for any of that

If a giant meteor hits the earth right before the first cycle of recruiting, better grab your butt and think about drop downs.

FWIW, i do remember a coach being successful in getting them to push back recruiting a few days or something b/c of a Jewish holiday (forget which) a couple of years ago.  IIRC, all he did was was ask and Tarek pushed it back.

It happened once - and led to a great debate and, I think, a statement that no holidays etc would in the future change the schedule. I am sure there was a big kerfufel and I think there was a decision that in the future the schedule will not bend for such.

except of course for Festivus

I understand guys and thanks for the concern. I suppose I was slightly in the heat of the moment. I certainly didn't get the hurricane as bad as those in the outer banks so let's have our thoughts and prayers with all who may have lost a loved one.

ya know, depending on where you are you might have time to post a second cycle of recruiting moves before the shock wave reached your location....

This thread reinforces the idea that it's always good to develop relationships with other coaches.  Right now I have 2 or 3 other coaches who I would trust to handle my recruiting for me if I was out of touch during any of the cycles.   It's not like an MMO where they can steal your gold and your gear or something.  Just change your password again when you get back.

Judging from the success those backup guys have, I might even be better off pretending I'm sick and letting them take over recruiting for a few days :)

Absolutely. I'm always confused a bit when people make excuses about not being able to make it to recruiting ... there is no shortage of excellent coaches willing to step in and help when needed (whether you're HD buddies with them or not ...)

Hmmm...I can't believe I didn't think about that as a possible solution, but it kinda of came unexpected.
