League Name: Re-Allocation Draft
Salary Cap: No Salary Cap (will play as 100M cap)
Description: This league will have a 20-round player draft. Only players from 1951-2011 will be eligible. The player pool for this draft will consist of exactly 480 players. These 480 players will include exactly 240 hitters and 240 pitchers. The 240 hitters will include 192 players with 550+ PA/162 (24 each of C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, plus 72 OF). The other 48 hitters (any position) will be part-time players with a minimum salary of $1.0 million and a maximum PA/162 of 350. The 240 pitchers will consist of 120 SP (each with 150+ IP/162) and 120 RP (each with 40+ IP/162 and salary of $1.0+ million). All positions are based on the primary position listed by WIS.
Determination of Player Pool: How do we determine which players will be in the draft? Each owner will submit a unique 20-player roster. On this roster, you must have exactly 8 starting hitters (550+ PA/162), one each at C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS plus 3 OF. You must have 2 part-time hitters (each with salary of $1.0+ million and maximum of 350 PA/162). You must have 5 SP’s (each with 150+ IP/162) and 5 RP’s (each with 40+ IP). Your 5 SP’s must total at least 1000 IP/162. Your 5 RP’s must total at least 300 IP/162. Your total team salary must fall between 99 and 100 million.
Uniqueness: Roster submission is based on reverse order of Round 1 standings (via groupings). When you submit your roster (i.e., post in the forum), you will need to make sure that none of your players have already been chosen. I will have an alpha list that will be constantly updated. Once a player has been selected, no other seasons of that player can be submitted by any subsequent owner.
The Draft: The draft order for the first round will be determined randomly. The order of each subsequent round will be based on lowest cumulative salary to that point. So if you draft the most expensive player each round, you may be picking last each round. This draft is about finding value and weighing the need for the best player vs. the need to pick early the next round. Each owner will be required to draft exactly one of each of the hitting positions (3 OFs), plus 2 part-time hitters (any position), plus exactly 5 SP and 5 RP. The team salaries may end up ranging from 95M to 105M or something similar. There is no official salary cap for this league.
Remaining Roster: The rest of your roster (5 players) will be filled with any hitters or pitchers with salaries under $300K (using 1951-2011 players not part of the draft pool). This means there will be no <300K versions of players that were in the draft. Note that players between 300K and 1M should not appear on any rosters.
