Lost 2 signed recruits? What? Topic

2 of my just signed recruits decided to not play....I got the maybe next year email. What happened? I dont like that I could not do anything about it because the signing period was over.

Assuming they were ineligibles.  That's a risk you take when you sign those guys.

I've never heard of someone having more than one show up.  Sounds like you got a bad roll of the dice on neither showing.

You'll still get your carryover as long as you would have filled all of your scholarships with those two included.

thanks for reply, they were both eligible but both were JUCO transfers with 3 remaining. when u say I still get my carryover what do you mean?

You carryover 25% of your recruiting budget if you filled every spot.  Since, technically, you filled them you won't be penalized

this is strange... which team are you referring to? any chance these 2 sophmores could have put you over 6 players in a class? i see you have 5 sophmores on one team - maybe the game looked at your recruits, said no this will put over 6, and mistakingly booted them both? i really dont think it works like that, i think that is figured out when scholarship emails are figured. ive never heard of anything like this happening when the 2 players weren't ineligible. you positive they were both eligible?

Changes within the last 90 days...

  • You'll now be prevented from recruiting a player if your team already is at the max for that player's class. This will save coaches from accidentally wasting money on a player they can't sign.
did this happen to you today? wonder if its a bug in the new engine. thing is, even if its that 5 sophs thing - he still should have signed 1 of the 2 players.

regardless, jaledarrett - if you are sure these 2 players were not ineligible, you should send in a ticket. even if CS cannot fix your problem (they should be able to), they might realize there is an issue and fix it for the future.

edit: whoops, didnt mean to post under gillispie the first time. this is gillispie...

That change just showed up in the release notes from today, so it probably wasn't in effect until after these guys had signed..

But it does sound like there was a bug where both recruits were let go instead of signing one and letting the other go JUCO.  I'd send a ticket on that, maybe they could give you one of the players or something if they were both eligible (though I doubt they'll do that for you... probably just SOL).

Jaledarrett, are you talking about your team in Smith or a team under an alias? It cannot be your team in Iba with the 5 sophs because signings don't start until tomorrow.

Im refering to Smith (St. Paul) DII

TBH - Im certain 1 recruit was ineligible the other was eligible. I was recuiting 8 players.

Is this St Pauls with the 2 W/O's? He doesn't have too many sophs there. If that's the team they should both have stayed.

Yeah. mizzou77 it is. These 2 are on my watch list right now but no other information.

If you got emails from both kids, then I'm inclined to think they both must've been ineligibles, despite you saying only 1 was.  Do a search for JUCO Sophs for next season's recruits and see if they're both there.  Or maybe cut and paste the email messages you got from both.

And there's no guarantee that any AI kids will show up to play no matter how many you sign.  So if you signed 2, going 0/2 isn't out of the realm of possibilities.

I'm sorry coach. I thought I would be playing for you next season, not taking a year off. I'm going to go the JUCO route so I can keep my game sharp. Maybe I'll be on your team down the road.

Coach, obviously I'd love to play for you next season but I just couldn't get the SAT score I needed. I think it would be in my best interest to play a year or two of JUCO ball instead of taking a year off.

If I do a recruiting search neither show up in their respective state. I do see them in recruiting summary, both with 3 years eligibility and eligible, which i realize they ill be eligible next season.

ok, so both were indeed AI kids, and unfortunately neither decided to stay with you and sit out a year.  You'll get some recruiting credit carry-over for th effort you put into them this season and they may decide to start considering you again with just a simple phone call, but if you're now far away from them, it could be tough to hold on to them w/o a fight.
