i guess i shouldnt be too surprised by jethro's pick....this is the same guy who decided n*** a******** and r***** l***** would be good 2nd/3rd round picks in the odl....now im not sure if he is just still getting used to the sim or just picking guys he likes but lets face it...they are ****** picks

nothing against magic....great sim player and totally worth a first round pick...but first overall?..no way....now i might be wrong on this since we havent had too many seasons since the changes...but im fairly convinced, due to the latest sim update, that you must have a good defensive team to win this league....you dont need a team as dominant as that great d-wade led team that won it last year(damn straight im gonna brag) but you cant ignore defense anymore and make up for it with great efg%....magic is one of only 2 players with a def under 70 i would even consider in the first round for this league...if your gonna start your team off with a guard why not pick lebron or the goat? id love to hear from jethro on why he picked magic

wilt imo is hands down the best player in this league....nothing wrong with taking lebron though...really the first few picks comes down to personal preference(i havent used this guy before or i want a guard or a big man) but i wouldnt stray out of the top 6 if i wanted the best chance to win

rodman and howard are no surprise.....the interesting thing for me will be to see who evil takes in the 2nd/3rd rounds....thats what really makes or breaks a rodman team

don't use undrafted players' names.

Barkley going ahead of Kareem surprises me a bit.
12/9/2011 5:03 PM
Barkley at SF is one of the top players in the sim.

I have never had any luck with Kareem.

Since my ODL team is 0-6, take this for what it is worth.

- no real surprises in the first round after the magic pick

- nater went waaaaay too early...especially for this league...if youre gonna take the bad defense with your boardlord why not go for lucas or love?

- the mcgrady/kidd backcourt is sick....i really like when any of the high usage stars at the 2 are combined with kidd...they form the perfect backcourt

- the pierce/paul backcourt is amazing too....will really punish teams with weak backcourt defense

- 98 made out pretty well even though he was late to the party....got 4 really good two way players

- tarheel is such a copycat...haha jk...i dont blame ya though...its a nice combo and seems to be working well in the odl for ash

- dirk got his usual pairing with a great rebounder in russell....like it

- marion fell farther then he usually does....his best season getting cut down some in d and sf eff is probably the reason

- elvin hayes? really katernberg? you are crazy....but why not wait til the 3rd to grab him?...i doubt anyone else was gonna take him

- big o! what the hell happened....ive never seen him go so late....great start for logain

- gotta love the white forward combo for malone.....love can be pretty questionable as to where he should go in this league, but middle of the 2nd seems right imo

- im pretty sure mchale/barkley get paired in every draft league now.....is this like a written rule now or something? did i miss that announcement?

- durant is the guy i was having a hard time passing on for billups with my 2nd rounder.....might be the sims best at getting points from the line...he and moses team up for my favorite combo so far

Karl could really be a top 10 pick.  He has so many positives and so few negatives.  His scoring (which is the most important factor in the sim) is second to none.

Barkley is great, but his usage isn't quite as high as it could be and of course the defense puts you behind the 8 ball right off the bat.   His rebounding should make up for a lot of that though.
12/12/2011 7:02 PM
When you take Barkley you set yourself up to be a dominate rebounding team. But then when you add McHale you set yourself up to be an average rebounding team. Great efg% though.

no, no, evil, i like this squad a lot ... just saying, these 3 guys are as ugly as hairy butts. haha.
12/14/2011 1:54 PM
Kidd - best building block left on board.  PG with 55% efg%, 175 3pm, 16% creb%, 30%+ ast%, low fouls, good d and a reasonable tov% for a low usage pg.

Tmac - I was torn between tmac and Duncan here, but someone took Duncan right before me and made my choice easier.  This is a dream back court (sim-wise)... I now have an incredibly low tov% (in the 8s), high usage (35%+), fta monster, 3pt monster who plays decent defense and has about 18% creb%.  Oh and he has 18% ast%, too, which, combined with Kidd, will be enough ast% by themselves for the entire team.  Anything I can get later is just going to be a bonus.

Humphries - I wanted Nater here and was shocked by him going early in round 2... he should have still been here.  So I ended up getting less boards, less minutes, lower efg% but better defense (not great, but above average, at least) and a tier 4 usage guy here that could play either the 4 or the 5, giving versatility to my round 4 pick...

Boerwinkle - I was ecstatic this guy was here.  I started to take him in 3, but went with Humphries in case I couldn't grab a PF in round 4.  This gives me two front court players with 40%+ creb% and above average defense.  I'll take the 19% ast% and spike Tmac's fg% even more.  His tov% is higher than i like, but again, that's mostly because he's low usage with high assists.

So far, I'm very low on minutes up front.  I can handle that.  There are lots of guys I can get later to fill in the gaps.  I really doubt the guy I want at the 3 will still be there (I wanted Marques and would have taken him in the 3rd), but I'm hopeful!  Scud knows who it is, and it's someone that typically goes in round 4, so I'm afraid I won't get my hands on him.   We'll see what happens.

Verdict thus far:  It all depends on tmac.  He's going to shoot me in and out of games.  I'm aiming more for possession control and doing what I can to beef up his fg% instead of doing what I normally do (just go for monster efg%).

he'll be there for u, ash. i'm not takin' him. too much usage. yeah, nice squad so far, boerwinkle broke my heart,
12/15/2011 1:00 AM
Yeah Ash...I almost took Boerwinkle, but instead opted for Parish
12/15/2011 7:18 AM
Reasons for choosing the way I did, from a typically losing owner

1R) 1991-92 Dennis Rodman SF

11.1 Usage
3300 Minutes
17.1 O-reb/31.6 D-reb
low turnovers, 90 defense and high minutes. I could have gone with Howard or Moses, but Rodman is always consistent with very little negatives besides the single-digit scoring which can be negated.

2R) 1993-94 Shawn Kemp PF

24.2 Usage
2600 Minutes
13.3 O-reb/23.2 D-reb
In this position I was tempted to take Buck Williams and Unseld whose defense I didn't like. I'll take the 100 defense Kemp who still gets to the line. His 3.3 turnovers are not terrible here since I took Rodman and sure the foul totals are high, but I'll take my chances here.

3R) 1976-77 Bill Walton C

20.8 Usage
2300 Minutes
9.4 O-reb/31.5 D-reb
In the past my teams have generally been weak on the defensive boards, I know I'll need a few backups in the front court. His 93 defense compliments what I've already drafted and it is too hard to pass up on him since Buck Williams was off the board.

4R) 2010-11 Joakim Noah  Backup PF

16.9 Usage
1600 Minutes
12.9 O-reb/21.4 D-reb
I wanted to keep my defense strong at this point and there were many options, but I knew I needed a backup to Kemp and one for Walton, therefore Noah came first, he either gets drafted, or doesn't. In this league it all depends what an owner needs, so I didn't want to hesitate further. He has the minutes to effectively backup Kemp.

4 players drafted
9700 minutes drafted
90,93,80 and 100 defenses
a shade over 27 Mil spent

so close to 25 mil left to spend.

12/16/2011 2:24 PM
i don't know, evil... a very important 4th round pick, and you go with another big, and a 1900 min big at that. u r unpredictable!

wait a minute! u'r not even using noah's best season? (69 def)
