Decades League -- 10 in Topic

The Decades League will work like this:

- 10 Round Draft---Last two players used may be anyone that is not drafted.   $2 million cap for player 11  and $2 millilon cap for player 12.
- Serpentine Draft
- No rookies...No waiver wire
- 55 Million Dollar Cap

Each player will draft TWO players from each of the following decades

1960s --- 1960/61 season thru 1969-70 season
1970s --- 1970/71 season thru 1979-80 season
1980s --- 1980/81 season thru 1989-90 season
1990s --- 1990/91 season thru 1999-00 season
2000s --- 2000/01 season thru present(owners may use 2010/11 as well)

Players may be drafted more than once, but they CANNOT be drafted more than once per decade.  For example...

Someone might draft 1980s Michael Jordan(which enables them to use ANY season from 1980/81 thru 1989-90).   Someone else might draft 1990s Michael Jordan(which enables them to use ANY season from 1990/91 thru 1999/20).

The only rule use you CANNOT use the same player twice---if you draft 80s Jordan, you cannot draft 90s Jordan(and you cannot use a 90s season of Jordan if he goes undrafted).

The draft rounds will NOT be by decade.   So the first pick might be from the 70s, the second pick might be from the 90s, and so on.   The only stipulation is you MUST draft two players per decade.

So an example of a round might be as follows:

1. Kobe Bryant - 2000s
2. Julius Erving - 1970s
3. Steve Kerr - 1990s
4. Moses Malone - 1980s
and so on.

Any issues not covered in these rules will be decided on as needed.

Sounds good---draft order will be random by the way

How long would a draft of this type normally take.....roughly?

Probably two weeks...i plan on taking two days per round for early rounds and one day per round for later rounds(with encouragement for proxies)

"These two players have a salary cap of $2 million each."

im guessing you mean a 2 mil max right?

and can we play these guys whatever mins we want?...for example: can i bury one of my 60s players at the end of my bench and never play him?

im absolutely in...i love draft leagues and the strategy involved in this one is gonna be amazing...hope it fills

2 mil each is correct

And yes you can coach em up any way you want....as long as you draft two per decade

2 things... I'm still not clear on if you mean that 2 million is the max the leftovers can be used or not.  When you answered dh's question you just kind of repeated your original sentence!

And generally decades go 59-60 thru 68-69, 69-70 thru 78-79 (and so on), since only a couple of months are played in the first year and 5 or more are played in the 2nd.  That's why you hear people say "The '96 Bulls" as the Wins record holder instead of the '95 Bulls .

Very interested, but not ready to commit.  Will be in touch.

You can spend up to $2m for player 11 and up to $2m for player 12.

And i do agree ash about the decades...main reason i set it up that way was to hold the oughts to 11 seasons instead of 12. I definitely don't mind changing that if other owners want me to.
