Dumbest Owner In The SIM Topic

My apologies in advance, but I don't think my friends, family and colleagues at work want to hear how incompetent I am as a SIM owner, so you guys are stuck with my story.  I just blew a World Series to half a deck (with the .704 lifetime W/L %) and, if he's half a deck, I'm about 10%.

After trailing 2-0, my typically fatigued team came back nicely to lead the WS 3-2.  I took a chance on Ed Summers in Game 3 to rest my fatigued Joss `08 and it paid off as I stole the game.  I was focused on closing out the WS with Joss `08 in Game 6, but he didn't quite get the job done, frittering away a 5-1 lead that he carried into the 7th.

Things quickly went from bad to worse as I discovered that, you guessed it, Ed Summers was locked into my starter's role for the decisive Game 7 as I had forgotten to idiot proof my lineup from myself by taking him out of my rotation.  The best I could do was set him for a MPC of 40 and a pull rating  of 5 with Joss `07 set to relieve him.

Ed wasted no time giving up three runs in the first and was promptly yanked for Joss `07, who pitched one-run ball the rest of the way, but the damage was done.  I lost Game 7 4-3.  I will only brood about it for the next five years or so.

When the Good Lord was handing out brains, I must have thought he said trains and ran in the opposite direction.

Don't be too hard on yourself.  Anyone who has played this game for any period of time has done one or more of the following:

-- Forgotten to reset your regular lineup after resting a player
-- Forgotten to reset your rotation to take advantages of matchups, fatigue, and/or critical games
-- Left a key player (or several) in the minors at the transaction deadline
-- Forgotten to adjust the steal rating and let a 19th century get thrown out an obscene number of times

I am personally guilty of all of the above.

Thanks for the kind words in my Grady Little moment.  I'm guilty of all the above as well, especially the fourth.  I can't count how many times I've surveyed my teams with some satisfaction at their steal records virtually up and down the lineup and then on further reflection scratched my head in bewilderment that Jack Doyle `94 has so many steals only to discover that he is still at his default steal setting and is now 32/67 or something like that.  And of course those are the leagues where I always miss the playoffs by a game or two.  What is the saying about how everyone makes dumb mistakes and the real test is how quickly we learn from them?

Don't feel bad, because I've absent-mindedly forgot to bring up several starters from the minors at the deadline at least three times. lol

You may not believe this, thunder, but even Davy Crockett wet his pants, when he was a little boy.

If this is any consolation Thunder, and you were a witness to this, just remember my ridiculous Idea(when I was a naive beginner and didn't know about rookies ) of fielding 60 million dollars in pitching(absolutely lights out) and 15 million dollars in hitting( absolutely worst ever) and hoping to buy rookies on the cheap in an OL. My pain lasted 2 months.

Very witty Teaparty, Glad you could get that off your chest Stengel, I'm sure you used your "prizing" to help unwed mothers and orphan children as I would have.  Good to see and it is my hope that you both have finally let those old grudges die.  Hope the families are doing well, my prayers go out to them. Godspeed to both of you.  See Thunder, I don't even get Mad at these two anymore. Proof that you'll be fine, and that time heals all wounds.  Happy New year (smile).......a kinder gentler crimsonblue.

Stupidest thing I ever did was i accidently brought down a starting lineup player into the minors 1 game before the transaction deadline.
