New worlds question. Topic

Anyone think it's a douchey move to join a new world while quitting an existing one?

You know the general answer to that.

Personally, as a commish, I don't care.   If you don't want to be in my world at 100%, I damn sure don't want you halfassing it due to some misguided feeling of "commitment".

Depends on the real reason why you're leaving the existing one.

If you're leaving the old world because you're genuinely unhappy there because of the world, your fellow owners, f-d up crap going on there, etc., then I suppose it's OK.  Although you're probably better off joining an already established strong, stable world because new world could be filled the same kind of crap you're walking away from.

If you're leaving the old world solely because you want the "shiny, new world smell" instead, then yes, it's douchey.

agreed with tec-9

I agree with both of you.  I'm just trying to generate some discussion on the subject because I see it happening.  I wouldn't care if I were the commish of the new world, but I would if I were the commish of the world that is being left.  The specific situation that I am talking about won't be a problem, because the world in particular always fills quickly, and has a waitlist upon rollover.  The principle of the matter bothers me a bit though.

It always happens despite the edict from WifS that owners cannot leave an existing world to join a new one.   It's an unenforceable rule.   Much like 3-5 seasons commitments.   You're committed to none(as you know) until the world generates a schedule.

I don't think anyone ever leaves a world they like to join a new one (or almost never).  They leave worlds they feel "meh" about, and probably would not have stayed in for very long anyway.

We had someone join the world I commish then duck out a season later for a new world. I thought it was pretty classless but in the end like Mike says you would rather have someone who wants to be there.

This is now hypothetical, because the person in question has now pulled out of the new world's signup list.

he must not have wanted to get it pregnant

The guy you're calling out has never stuck with a world for longer than a few seasons anyway so it wasnt out of the norm for him to drop a world and join a different one.  Who cares if he's joining new or old.. I think its pretty crazy that people cry about new worlds and whine that it makes it difficult for current worlds to fill.   An existing world that is worth palying in doesnt have a hard time filling.. If your world is slow to fill you probably have a much bigger issue than a NEW WORLD being created.

Well, now that you've been a commish for half a season, I'd say you have all the answers!!!

Well, owners don't fall in love with every world they join.  Sometimes it's best to move on before they've sat around for 4 halfhearted seasons, so that the team can get the guidance it needs as early as possible from a committed owner.

You mean he dropped out of one of your worlds to join a waiting list? lol

That new world will never be created, WIS made the requirement 15 openings both public and private before that happens. And with worlds rolling over every day that will never happen, or take a very long time

I get pretty attached to these fake players.  All it takes for me is one star/stud to land on the team and I think 'wow just three to four seasons from now I'll have that guy in the bigs"   Then I stay there for as long as I have with my team in Jackie Robinson.
