Is he a PG or SG? Topic

I have one guard spot opening up next season and recruited this guy and played him at SG this season:

Jim Howes

He's High-High in pass and ball handling. Pretty much capped out at 78 Per.

Trying to decide if I should recruit a pure PG or high Per SG, I play a motion offense

I'd say PG but his defense is kinda weak, eh?

I would play him on the other team's nonscoring guard but he looks like a PG to me.

high-high defense, so hoping it will even out at about 35 or so by senior year

thats still pretty weak the better defensive of the team you have, the more successful you will become

Looking at his offensive rating alone for D3 that is definitely a PG. That especially true for your team considering the player with the highest passing thats returning has 58.

That player will be just fine in d3. He can play either guard position. I would probably do what Trentonjoe would do... Alternate him to the other teams lesser scorning guard.

I hate scorners.

I mostly echo trentonjoe and jpmills about moving him by matchup. I didn't look at rest of team. If you run the offense (motion I think) that he has high IQ in I'd be even happier about him playing at PG. If not, I'd shade more toward SG.
At the risk of causing some controversy - he could not have been high high in defense. Looks like he started at 13 (19 now, and showing black or average potential remaining). From 13, high high is a minimum value of 41. From the current 19, average max of 20 is only 39...should still finish in mid 30s like you said though...

If its a high high it should likely be north of forty by the end of his senior year.  Isn't a high high 27+?

I dont think hes showing black remaining. Im pretty sure you can't see the potential of another coach's players.

He's capable of playing either position. I think he's your best PG, so I would play him there. He's defense won't be too much of a problem. Friendly advice: next recruiting cycle try to sign guards with defense that will end up 50+. The sophmore guards you inherited aren't great defenders either, so your gonna need to focus on defense (I know its tough for a C prestige)

I actually think his def will be a huge problem...on defense.

Not saying he's not a good player, he will be a nice scorer.  But you're talking about a guy who looks like he'll be at best 50 ath/70 spd.  In a man def, if he's not 50 def, which won't happen until at least his senior season, he's going to have serious trouble against the elite guards in D3.  Again, not saying he's not very good, but good scoring guards won't have a problem shooting 50% or higher against him.
