Been taking it slow for 2 seasons in an attempt to keep costs down so most of my coaches are BS. Now I upped my coaching budget and I'm looking for the "average" coaching attributes per level. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Go the the "World Office --> Reports --> Coaches" page.  You'll be able to select any coaching level and role for all teams from the previous season.  That should give you the ability to find the info that you are looking for.

Keeping costs down by hiring crap coaches is probably a bad idea.  I assume you're either signing IFA or drafting high.   If that's the case, you're not helping those players' development.

Any easier way to do this? It seems like the highest paid guys are on par with the minimum wage guys.

thats a pretty easy way to do it. keep a second browser window open with the coaches report while you're doing your hiring. works like a charm.
3/28/2012 7:15 PM
So what should I be paying attention to? Just comparing how my coach stacks up against the higher paid guys?
3/28/2012 9:11 PM
Higher ratings good.  Lower ratings crap.
3/28/2012 9:50 PM
The primary ratings are obvious, the secondary rating that means the most is patience.  The rest of the ratings mean anywhere from zippity-do-da, to slightly more then zilch.

I go with 50 RL, 55 LOA 60 HIA 65 AA 70 AAA 80+ ML.  these are basically minimums, however if a guy has awesome patience Im willing to go with a slightly lower main rating.

Another important rating (in a way) is loyalty, coach hiring is mundane at the MiL levels, and hiring a guy with awesome loyalty is a real boon as long as his prime rating isnt too bad.

In that post I've set the drop boxes to 'hitting coach' 'ML level' and 'all franchises'. Then I sorted their ratings by hitting IQ. I try to be in the upper half if not third.

Please explain your definitive statement about patience.

This is the coach's patience rating. The higher the rating, the easier it will be for him to tolerate and coach younger players. Of course, if he's really good in the other areas, his lack of patience may be acceptable.

This is the coach's discipline rating. The higher the rating, the more focused he'll be on the fundamentals such as bunting, throwing strikes and hitting the cutoff man. Of course, this means he'll spend less time on some of the other important aspects of his role.

Some may think control and arm accuracy are pretty important.

I guess Im wrong, discipline is pretty important too.  my bad...
3/29/2012 7:39 PM
Yeah, I value discipline too.  I look for the coach who has the best in the primary category, and then I look at patience, and almost equally, discipline, and then loyalty is a bonus.
3/29/2012 8:51 PM
I also like to look for the bench coaches with good ratings across the board, as opposed to the ones who it seems really should be pitching coaches
