Board Game League


I believe that Ox ran the first version of this league, filled it the first time within 24 hours and was a really fun league incorporating creativity in your team building and managing skills. It has been a while since this league was ran I believe as I cannot find a thread in any of the forums for this league. I have done my best to recreate this league off of memory and if you remember anything that is not here please sitemail me and it will be considered to be added.


 


Concept: Each owner will start with 10 points** upon signing up and given one Random team to start with. Once you sign up you will have many different options to possibly spend your points on. Each Card will cost a certain number of points and you will build your team based upon the cards you are delt.


**Going to stick with 10 points, previous leagues have given more points, however with only 10 points it will force owners to be more creative and keep talent pools closer together.


Cards include:


·         Year Card (4 Points): Will be given a random year between 1885-2011 (Apx 400-1000+ players)


·         Stat Card (3 points): Will be given a random stat from list below


·         All-Star team Card (2 Points): Will be given a random year AL or NL team


·         World Series Champion Team Card (2 Points) :Will be given a random WS Champion


·         HOFer Card (1 Point) *Two maximum* Given a HOF to use on your team HOF ARE EXCLUSIVE


·         Random Team Card (1 Point): Given a random team and year from 1885-2011


·         AAA Card (1 Point): Right to use AAA


·         Salary Card (1 Point) : Given a random Salary to add to your 100 mil base; 1M, 5M, 10M, 20M


 


Once you choose to purchase a card, I will use random.org to generate a number between 1 and the number of possibilities of that card (ex: random year, (1,126)). The website will give me a random integer which I will copy and paste with the random.org time mark. All cards will be determined this way except for random team cards, which will be determined by the “random” command on baseball-reference.com. This is to be able to have extinct teams included without having the nightmare of a time trying to find a team from an integer then having to find when they played causing to new lists to constantly having to be made.


RE-Rolls: Each owner will be given TWO re-rolls per team entered. Meaning, if you are not happy with one of your cards you can ask for a redo and will be given a new card. LIMIT 2 PER TEAM.


Trading of Cards will be allowed, however the trade must be of equal point value and must be posted by both participating owners. It will then have to be approved by me as a fair trade. (Most trades will be accepted as long as no foul play is detected). Trades of players is not allowed before start of season as all player trades must go through trade tool, however if you would like to try to set up a trade before going into the season that will be encouraged and a trade forum will be set up.

sounds cool...   I think Bastan ran a couple seasons of something similar...  "WIS the Boardame" or something- but it was super cool.  Everyone started with a random 2011 (or most recent season team) and then they could buy any of the cards...any deviation or nuanced spins you put on it are cool with me...

Ya I thought Bastan may have been the next to run this league. Played multiple seasons with Ox and Bastan as comish when it was running. Ah that comes back to me that we started with 2011 season. Think that we will start people off with randoms from multiple years to give everyone a chance with any team to start. Thought about 2011 teams at first but actually like the idea that you could get lucky and get the 27 yanks or another top team to start
