Does size matter? Does it increase performance? Topic

No, this isn't a Viagra ad.....

Does size (primarily height) make any difference in performance if you had two players with identical ratings?

Does anyone make a yes or no decision based on height when recruiting?  I haven't been paying any attention to it, but then again my team sucks.

of course size doesn't matter - where would you even get that idea?*

(no, it really doesn't...you suck for other reasons I'm sure - no offense)

height is window dressing, it's effect (or lack thereof) is already taken into account via the ratings the player has.

I needed a good laugh and some people's responses here gave it to me. Thanks guys.

Also, this was a (serious) question I had about the game, and someone asked it for me, so I'm glad to get some opinions on it.

Yeah, to my unending surprise, it doesn't have any effect on the game how tall a guy is. I've heard that height is somehow tied into the logic to his core defensive stats, but it's only been rumors I think, never anything confirmed.

Oh, and what has 147 teeth and restrains "The Incredible Hulk"?

From 5/4/10 dev chat:

Will a 7'0" C with 70 LP have an easier time scoring than a 6'4" C with a 70 LP? "With all other ratings being equal" I was told before that height didn't have an effect it was just the ratings. (utvol4life - All-Star - 2:37 PM)

I think the only adjustment that could be made is to account for extreme differences in height. In general, the rating accounts for their height. So you can look at your example like this: the 7'0" player may only be a 50 LP if he were 6'6" instead.

Also if you pay really close attention some players grow during the offseason and their ratings will change accordingly.

Really?  I never noticed that.  I don't really pay that much attention to offseason improvements, though.  They're nice and all, but I tend to pay more attention to things I can actually control.

yes really.

and its definitely true that height and weight are factored into a players' ratings in recruit generation.

where is the guy who had all Johnson's on his team? I bet he had a lot of size on his squad.

First, I never knew the sim had players grow in the off season. I'll have to look for that.

Second, a team full of all Johnsons? Wow.

BTW, there's a recruit in Wooden named Dong Hong right now. I think he signed with Boston College (not me).

Unfortunately, there's no way to tell when you're recruiting them if they are actually going to put forth max effort into growing during the offseason or not.  And if they don't grow, whether they're going to continue to strive to grow (you know, to help the team and all) or get lazy and not try to add a couple of inches of height.  Makes it hard to decide whether to recruit those type players, you know the ones that just decided that they're done growing and don't try anymore.
