This game has been utterly neglected over the past 2 years. I'm down to one team from my usual 4 but that will soon be 0 if we the trend continues.

I wouldn't count on it.

Thanks for letting us know.

The game has been neglected and not improved, but you gotta admit, it's a pretty damn good game

Just thought I'd point out that today is the one year anniversary of the last engine update, according to the last post in the HBD "Critical News" forum.

So it's not been utterly neglected for 2 years?

From June 2010 - Jan 2012 there were 9 engines update.  9 in 19 months.

From Feb 2012 - Jan 2014 there was 1 engine update. 1 in 23 months.

Not utterly neglected (can't use hyperbole!) but relatively neglected over 2 years.  Utterly neglected for 1 year.

Playing the role of Devil's Advocate here . . . what exactly NEEDS to change in the game?

Making changes just for the sake of saying "Look!  We're making changes!" might not be the best idea,

One can argue about how the Suggestions Forum is dead, because of the feeling that WIS doesn't read them or react to them, but one basic fact that shouldn't be overlooked is that there have been no significant or meaningful suggestions in a couple of years.  Most of the suggestions have been the same old **** being rehashed over and over again ("Make the draft more random!", etc.), many of which are bad ideas to begin with.

Somebody in these forums recently referred to HBD as a "legacy" game, meaning that it's running in a steady state with no major changes or enhancements.  And that's probably a very accurate description.  And if the game is stable, there are no glaring problems with it, what's so bad about legacy?

Unless you're the type of person who constantly needs to be stimulated with new shiny things, there's no reason why this game can't continue on in it's current state.

I'll add, as always, that the suggestions forum is full of garbage.   I'm not sure what pressing update exists.    Of course, if they were interested in running it properly, they'd at least give the impression that they are constantly looking for ways to improve the game.   They could do this with quarterly cosmetic updates.   Add a few stadiums, change a color scheme, new player faces/names, pretty much anything that requires minimal work but convinces people that they are here.

And, no, I wouldn't post in the forums if I were them.   That always turns out bad.

You spelled "better looking" wrong.

In all seriousness, there are a few ideas I think we agree make sense to fix.  HOF voting is one.  Maybe do something with ADV to make it more appealing.  We know what the good ideas are.

HOF would be one of those cosmetic changes.    ADV would require a complete overhaul of just about everything and pretty much require a "reset" season.

Disagree with the specifics of the latter.  ADV could be made more meaningful by introducing a wider array of development trajectories and potentials (that is, by allowing both a wider range of developmental changes, and by making the timing of those changes less predictable).  This would be a major, programming-intense change-- but it would not have to disrupt the game or require a reset.

But I agree with your more general point.  The game's pretty good, and any meaningful change would likely not draw enough new interest to pay for the programming hours it would take.  I might want updates, but I neither expect nor need them.
