How do you feel about small conference championship tournaments where the leagues best team occasionally gets upset and has to miss the Big Dance?

One thing I wish they would "change" is calling the round of 64 games the "2nd round".  That's the "1st round" dammit, the games before that are the "play-in" games and I don't care what anyone else says.

That's funny. Actually i think this year they've finally renamed it the way you described.

Next year it will be officially change back to being the first round

If you watched the end of Albany-Stony Brook, how could you not love the CT?

Yeah, that Albany final shot was something to remember! I really like March Madness, it's probably one of my three favorite sport event. First is the Mundial, second March Madness, and the SB.

I am going out on a limb and saying Kentucky will be upset in the elite eight or the final four. Watch for Wisconsin, Duke, Villanova to win it all.

Auto-bids devalue the regular season and elevate fortuna over demonstrated success. #NotAFan
LOVE March Madness, though. And because of this game, I'm rooting for a team I would otherwise have no connection with. #GoBulldogs

They are really great if you have a lot of interest in a non-power conference.  For example, I am a fan of both the Missouri Valley and Mountain West conferences, so I really look forward to the tournaments.

You can't really take away the auto-bids, because they are exciting because something is on the line.  I can see why fans of power confs wouldn't like them though.

I hate the power conferences, but I can't justify a team with losing record or low seed getting automatic bid because they won 4 games in a row. What did you do in regular season, that should matter more.

That's the mentality that gets mediocre Texas and UCLA teams into the field over Colorado State and Temple.
3/15/2015 8:31 PM
No it's not. What the heck do you mean that's the mentality that gets teams like Texas and UCLA in. I don't think either of those teams deserve to be in. Neither of those teams had good regular season or CT run. That statement you made makes no sense. I'm all for mid majors, just not a ****** mid major. Rethink what I said.

Teams that have earned AUTOMATIC bids, should not have to compete in play-in games...the point of an AUTOMATIC bid is that you're in/you made the tournament, thus you shouldn't have to PLAY INto it, because you're/you should be already there.

Since we call it the "2nd round" why not just...not...and call those "automatic" bids to the play-in round instead?

The "play-in" games suck a$$ and should be eliminated.

oh thank god. i am with emy, that drove me insane! 2nd round my ***, i refused to assimilate to promote their marketing that those first few games matter. the worst part of the whole thing was, i was forced into agreeing with emy. now we can go back to our natural state of disagreeing on everything, until someone proposes something completely insane to push us back together. oh wait... that mega update is still on the table, huh? damn it... get over here emy... sigh
