I was told that a half grade better on prestige is not good enough for Big Six job...Conference Baseline is too high.  Expect to get a B when you raise to A.  At least thats what CS told me when it happened to me, however I was at a lower level (B- trying to get a C).

Response from CS.

Your Success ratings is just a hair too low to be considered for these jobs.

If you can replicate the success you have had the past two seasons, you should be qualified for the Miami (FL) position next year.

Specifically, your success ratings in seasons 80, 81 and 84 are what is holding you back from being qualified now.

prestige at your current job only correlates somewhat with ability to get new job

the "logic" they use seems to treat missing the postseason as a mark of death

I'm eligible for all jobs in Knight

The funny thing is... There point makes no sense. If I could replicate that success I wouldn't be looking at a B prestige school I would be looking at A or better! Apparently SIM AI running a team into the ground is better than my track records.

The A- is largely baseline driven. Just based on my own experience, with no NT 2 of the last 4 years, I would think only C level Big 6 jobs would be available. But when those 2 seasons are replaced with NT seasons, you'll be good to go.

I hate the "Sim running the team into the ground" rant.  Of course, you'd be better than a Sim coach, 93% of barely trained ring-tailed lemurs would be better.  But the fact is, right or wrong, perfect sense or ludicrous, your resume didn't meet the standards for that job that the system said it needed to meet.  With all the empty teams in all the worlds, should those standards be slightly more relaxed?  Probably, but as of now they aren't.  So do what CS suggested, make the postseason next year and then go apply for, and get, the Miami job.  It isn't that big of a deal and certainly not worth taking personally.

D1 is another animal. It's pretty simple in DIII and DII, win some, get about any jobs. I actually like D1 as it is now, it's quite a challenge. And GV seems to already be really good at it. I don't know if I will have a dream job once I reach the big six or if I will just take the first one and build it to win. But one thing for sure, winning games outside the big six, I mean in the NT, means you are a great coach.

i agree with the sim thing, it always annoyed me, too. i do agree with the OP on premise of, he should be qualified - but that should be the thrust - not that you are better than a sim. otherwise a+ elites should be open to d3 coaches after season 1, and we definitely don't want that... well, i don't. maybe some crazy people do :)

gvsu, not that its relevant to the high level gripe about resumes and such - but that miami job is a hot mess, and with the lack of openings for recruiting, delaying a season won't make much difference. i suspect it will still be there for you (albeit with a b- instead of a b) next year and it will really not make much difference next season if you got to it a season earlier. either way, you are going to have an uphill battle with all those sim recruits, which pretty much were all in place before this season, right? anyway, hope you get it, and good luck in advance! recruiting against myself and OR in state will definitely make things interesting :)

Gill - I definitely agree that my argument is not "well I am better than SIM AI". I think I really should be qualified for the job, but I am not so its no big deal. I was trying to get out of Louisville since I have 4 returning players and have 8 openings. Kentucky just got bumped back to A+ prestige and Indiana just won the NC and is at A+, so the chances of my recruiting going well here continue to be slim to none. I agree Miami would be a challenge, was just looking for a change from Louisville where I can't seem to turn the corner.
