I wish I could take some credit for this kid but I didn't recruit him. He was a heck of a player and led our team to the Sweet 16.
Just thought I'd share his profile. All of his attributes were blue when he started out. DII Player of the Year.

Dear god, I have dreams of players like this falling to me in D2 and they've gone unfulfilled. There are a lot of Michigan programs kicking themselves over him.

I have never had a 900 player....ever.

doesn't that break the growth record as well with 416.

Has 900+ happened at D2 before?

Would be interesting to know if he was a D2 or a D1 guy since he was unranked if he was D1

All things I was wondering as well...

He was high/high in every single attribute except athleticism, ball handling, and maybe but probably not passing (right at 27 and grew high senior year).....

My two highest were :

856. He was blue everywhere. He went from 477 to 856.
866. He was blue everywhere except in athleticism and he went from 488 to 866.

If someone had a freshman go from something to 900. I'd like to see the player. It would be fun.

I remember that guy in Smith because I went after him from Duluth and then backed off because tomcecil was closer (and spent a TON). Yes, the guy was blue in EVERY category, something that is rare, and after the first cycle he had about ten schools on him. If I was closer I'd have battled but as it was, I'd have just lost the money.

So he was a DII recruit? Not a DI dropdown?

That is a crazy amount of schools on one recruit.

This kid probably should be drafted. Definitely would be a sleeper in the draft.

That ATH/SPD/DEF combo is too low for him to get drafted. And keep in mind this guy's very high WE/STA/DUR skew his OVR rating.

That said...he is an amazing D2 player and would be an asset on some low D1 and mid major programs due to his good all-around abilities.

EDIT: Just curious, does he show up on the Draft Big Board? Sometimes I wonder if the AI favors players who are good at everything but great at nothing because they often have higher OVR ratings than "better" players (i.e. those 90ATH/90SPD/90DEF PGs).

He showed up as a D2 recruit for me at UMD right from the get-go.

I'm not sure it was actually ten schools, but I remember thinking I'd never seen that many schools in a considering list before.

If we're appreciating players, I think oldave would want everyone to see Carlos Sherman. As utterly irritating as OD has been about the guy, I have to admit he's the best D3 player I've seen in a very long time. He doesn't have the eye-popping OVR of the D2 guy, but he's a very special player. Usually, D3 is all about compromise - what are you willing to give up to get something else? Sherman compromises nothing. I think he's started at the 1, 2, and 3 this year and he's great in any of them. He's got average rebounding skills at the 3, above-average guard skills at the 1, very good defense anywhere, and is a great scorer.

That guy didn't make as much progress in his redshirt year as he did in subsequent years. I'm just wondering, is that always the case? Can we pretty much expect/hope for better progress from our redshirts in their playing seasons than in their redshirt season? Thanks.
