Question npb... since you obviously want the player regardless based on the number of trips you've put into him why are you bothering to send a 9th scouting trip in the first place? You are wasting your budget for information that would be nice to have but makes no difference to your recruiting actions. And if the difference between high-high ath and low-high ath is really the make it or break it, the same question still applies because the difference between the two is probably only a couples points anyway given that more often than not high-high ath will max out after about 30 points.
I agree a second type of scouting trip that focuses on only one category would be useful in the current game, but your situation seems like a complete waste.
Hey jsa!
So, I'm in a weird spot during this recruiting season.
At Crum Providence, I have only 2 openings, so i've been boxed out of my top and medium range targets. So I'm dipping deep into the barrel for my next targets...
I have a center locked into me (Larson), who is pretty mediocre, but he fills a need and should eventually be semi-competent.
I also need a guard. I jumped on the mediocre Engelhardt yesterday morning, the same round that Army (3 openings) did. In the meantime I've also jumped on a very mediocre project recruit (Gile), who has a high WE and nice potentials and should be good by his junior year, and all things considered may be worth grabbing over Engelhardt... but wow, is he low quality.
Engelhardt though, has a 47 in ATH with high potential, and 63 in SPD with average potential. So his Speed sucks, but his ATH could range from 67 to 77+... assuming a high-high would get him to around 80 in ATH, as opposed to 67-ish, getting results for his ATH potential in this specific case would be key. If i can only count on his ATH being around 67, then i would rather just go with Gile, because to shake Army off Engelhardt will be costly and/or a pain in the arse cuz he has no competitors for his other two targets... i should be able to easily win the battle, but want to make sure that it's worth the effort (if i spend much more, i won't have enough money left over to scout early-season next year, which would suck... and which is a 4th thing that Beta will fix).
Anyway, good question, and that's my hopefully sensible rationale.
Actually that leads me to a 5th thing that Beta will fix... i never liked being able to see another team's target list... i'll add that to the top of this thread.
