Six Longtime BS Things Beta Will Fix... Topic

Here is a list of two things Beta will fix, which makes current HD recruiting freakin SUCK.

1. In Crum, at 11am this morning I'm going to go out on a freakin 9th Scouting Mission to see if my freakin target guy is high-high or low-high in freakin Athleticism.

2. I have 2 openings. For whatever reason a ton of rival teams have 6 openings. So it's basically impossible for me to compete against these teams... $96k vs $32k.

That is all.

3. [tip of the hat to Carson] Thankfully, the 2 hour window for initial recruiting actions has been increased. Crum recruiting started at 6pm this past Saturday night. Coincidentally, a friend of my 10 year old and his father invited the two of us to see a Pawtucket Red Sox game... game started at 6pm... so my first recruiting actions were done haphazardly on my phone in the glaring late afternoon sunlight. Beta allows us to preload initial recruiting actions 8 hours ahead of time i think? Or more?

3a. By the way, the most inopportune time that the 2 hour window was a problem was at my great-uncle's wake, which was 4pm to 8pm.

4. In HD Classic, in order to see next-season's recruits' FSS potential during the season, you have to keep some of your recruiting money leftover in the bank. If you complete recruiting in Classic and have no money, then you have to FSS and check potentials only 18 hours before recruiting starts.

5. In Beta, you won't be able to see a team's recruiting target list. In Classic, everyone can see each other's targets, which could and has encouraged poaching and hyena-like ganging up and collusion between conference mates.

6. Last minute poaching.

We also have more than 2 hours to put in our first recruiting actions.

Thanks Carson, i added your comment as a 3rd item.

Reloading is a nice improvement.

having more openings might still give you a big advantage so not sure beta is fixing that.

Question npb... since you obviously want the player regardless based on the number of trips you've put into him why are you bothering to send a 9th scouting trip in the first place? You are wasting your budget for information that would be nice to have but makes no difference to your recruiting actions. And if the difference between high-high ath and low-high ath is really the make it or break it, the same question still applies because the difference between the two is probably only a couples points anyway given that more often than not high-high ath will max out after about 30 points.

I agree a second type of scouting trip that focuses on only one category would be useful in the current game, but your situation seems like a complete waste.

Another nice thing about Beta- it's easier to recruit on the go.

I have 6 openings for Phelan and I'm going to be out of town the entire recruiting period so I'll be doing it 100% on my phone. It's a pain to sort through all the coach calls to find out who is a drop or pull down. So tedious. The new interface is more mobile friendly but it's also easier to do recruiting actions on the phone too since you don't need to go through all the emails.

Hey jsa!
So, I'm in a weird spot during this recruiting season.

At Crum Providence, I have only 2 openings, so i've been boxed out of my top and medium range targets. So I'm dipping deep into the barrel for my next targets...

I have a center locked into me (Larson), who is pretty mediocre, but he fills a need and should eventually be semi-competent.

I also need a guard. I jumped on the mediocre Engelhardt yesterday morning, the same round that Army (3 openings) did. In the meantime I've also jumped on a very mediocre project recruit (Gile), who has a high WE and nice potentials and should be good by his junior year, and all things considered may be worth grabbing over Engelhardt... but wow, is he low quality.

Engelhardt though, has a 47 in ATH with high potential, and 63 in SPD with average potential. So his Speed sucks, but his ATH could range from 67 to 77+... assuming a high-high would get him to around 80 in ATH, as opposed to 67-ish, getting results for his ATH potential in this specific case would be key. If i can only count on his ATH being around 67, then i would rather just go with Gile, because to shake Army off Engelhardt will be costly and/or a pain in the arse cuz he has no competitors for his other two targets... i should be able to easily win the battle, but want to make sure that it's worth the effort (if i spend much more, i won't have enough money left over to scout early-season next year, which would suck... and which is a 4th thing that Beta will fix).

Anyway, good question, and that's my hopefully sensible rationale.

Actually that leads me to a 5th thing that Beta will fix... i never liked being able to see another team's target list... i'll add that to the top of this thread.

Maybe not a good idea for you to talk about your recruiting strategy and plans on the forums, including player names...

Hey dahs!
Good advice, but no worries, these guys aren't really good enough to be poach-worthy*.
Also, everything i said is pretty much all public knowledge by just clicking on my team... i have 2 openings, so i started with an approximate cash total that everyone can figure out... I'm being considered by Larson, Engelhardt and Gile... i have a C in prestige...

* i just coined this term, with props to Elaine Benes.

I think, as I've said (and I sound like a broken record) that scouting is frustrating in beta - but if that's fixed, the beta could otherwise be very successful. I like the way recruiting works and I like most things about the new user interface.

Everything depends on seble having the patience to maybe extend the beta process if needed to make it great. He's on the right track with a lot of things. But if the beta is put out there too soon, the exodus could be very ugly

Oh yeah, i added a 6th item that Beta will guard against: Poaching.

This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.

You're defending poaching, which is among the biggest reasons why players leave Hoops Dynasty.
And you're defending 6 player recruiting classes, which with 96k in Div-1 gives an owner a ridiculously easy and bogus ability to dominate recruiting.
These are seriously among the 2 dumbest parts of Hoops Dynasty.

Poaching and 6-Opening-96k-Classes will both be reduced in importance with the new Beta, but of course you're against the Beta.

yes go take a look only the good coaches who run 6-6 super classes win titles and those that only poach win all the games lol. I showed a long time ago guys people hate like daveredden and twiddlebug don't win that much more than anyone else who is talented lol. Y'all just get butthurt because you think it's unfair they decide to put everything on 1-2 seasons instead of competeting every single season.

You know what beats cash, actual talent. If cash meant everything everyone would run a 6-6 class structure or and load up on money but you know what it doesn't talent still beats cash for the most part.

No they are nowhere near as close as dumb to recruit generation, the stupid game engine, some of the stupid and entitled coaches, preferences, scouting, how prestige is calculated, jobs, etc

poaching and class structure is just an excuse people use for being a crappy coach.

My problem with the beta isn't the reduced impact of poaching and class structures it's the terrible two period design, illogical preferences that are completely based on luck, inefficient and mind numbing scouting with no strategic means, and the fact the the actual problems, recruit generation, jobs, prestige, engine are left alone because seble doesn't think they are a problem and/or isn't actually capable of fixing them because fixing recruit gen probably eliminates more than half the need of the beta.

You sounds like a hack thinking I'm against the beta because of poaching and class structures lol, that post you just made I don't even think spud could post something so stupid
