Very High lost to High Topic

I understand this is a thing now.... but don't have the player send me an e-mail saying the team that had him at High wanted him more than me.....that is just infuriating.

Also, players signing on the first cycle of the 2nd recruiting period is idiotic because teams don't even have a chance to make up any ground if they have EE's.

High and very high are odds of signing.

fix ees, make them declare first cycle.

I am happy with the general idea of the new recruiting except for 3 things.

1-Recruits signing early in the 2nd round of recruiting. In my opinion there should be no signings for at least 24 hours after the 2nd round starts.

2-EE's. Somehow someway teams need to get credit before the first round of recruiting starts for EE's. If you can't do that do away with EE's.

3-The recruit should sign with the team that is rated #1 on the recruits list for effort.

What happens in the scenario:
Recruit is a Whenever guy.
Recruit's Considering List:
- Manchester United.... Very High... No Scholarship.
- West Ham United..... Low... Yes Scholarship.
- Sunderland.... Very Low... Yes Scholarship.
- Queens Park Rangers.... Very Low... No Scholarship.

Man United has 2 openings, and signed 2 players in Period 1.
Period 1 ends.
Man United anticipates having one EE, so has positioned himself favorably on the recruit above.

If Man United ends up with no EE, so has no openings, what happens to the recruit's Considering List? Does Man United get dropped from the list, and West Ham jumps to Very High? And Sunderland and QPR jump to High or whatever?

Man U could theoretically cut a player almost right to the end of period #2 and then offer a scholarship so until period #2 ends, the recruit won't sign. If Man U hasn't offered a scholarship by the end of period #2, the recruit will begin dropping down their signing threshold (to moderate, then to low, finally very low) until someone is considered at that level who has offered a schollie. If nobody has offered a schollie, the recruit goes unsigned.

So in the above example, if no changes occur, the recruit will sign with West Ham U. at the very end of period #2. Sunderland will not get a chance at all.

High and very high are probabilities of signing. That is the whole point the new recruiting system. Highest team has the highest probability of signing, other very high teams have less probablity than the leader and more than high teams. All Very High and High teams have SOME probability of signing. That's how it works now, so don't get upset.

In general, 1 High and 1 VH in a battle, the High team has between 30-35% chance of signing the recruit. The only way to ensure a High can not sign is to knock him down to moderate.

We've had pages of arguments and calculations before on this subject.

Here is a link that contains 5 links from beta that explains High/Very High.

Here are some calcs: LINK .. here is that same scenario with 5% and a 10% bonus calc for the leading team: LINK

whelp, i don't think gvsujulius intended this to be a rehash or VH vs High for the 50th time. i took it as "could you at least word the email differently, so it doesn't rub it in?" and i kind of agree! it's pretty trivial-ish compared to fixing bugs, but it is part of the fiction built into the game. it would make more sense and maybe sooth some irritation if the emails when you lose a team that's only High instead said "the girls just look better there" or "my cousin booboo went there back in the '80s," etc etc. because the H team didn't 'want it more.' so i get that!

on the second point, i totally agree. there should be at least 1 cycle in the 2nd session without signings.

I think Vh to h need to be changed to odds of signing. And efforts made are enough for you to get a % shot at a recruit. I disagree, when I go 20 hvs, 1cv, promised start, promised minutes, good to very good preferences to always lose to a higher prestige team... Efforts are there...

We BADLY need some humor in the game. One of my favorites from a recruit said something like "me and my boys like to do our thing so as long as you look the other way, we'll be cool". Something like that. Hilarious!

If you changed it to "odds of signing" instead of interest then it would also be misleading when you're listed as moderate. You'd think "oh I have a moderate chance of getting him versus the team that is High". When in reality you have a 0% chance.

I am not a fan of the the High over Very High but I know that is the new route WIS is going... I will live with it until I can't anymore. My bigger complaint was the stupid wording of the e-mail, also that recruits sign so fast after the 2nd session begins. I think the 2nd session is too short and should be extended.

I think 10 cycles is about right for the 2nd period. It's already too long for teams that get their recruiting done or at least completely set up in the first session.

I support the idea of having late preference guys not sign until the final 8, though. This is mostly to give coaches who change jobs a chance to get their effort considered by some recruits, but also for teams with unexpected EEs.

As for the emails, I don't read those anymore anyway. At least that old "thought you would have heard by now" is gone, that was way more irritating to me than anything I've seen in 3.0.

Agreed .. and also add some protected time in the beginning where no one signs.
