D1 is a lottery Topic

seeing how it will be in D1 Phelan, it has become a lottery for top players, prospects and high potential players. Distance is crucial because of money spent. Not sure preferences even play that big a part... There is something missing if we are to have even more owners at D1. For D2, location(finding a place where there isn't a lot of d1 teams) is key.

It hasn't even been 24 hours yet in Phelan.

Check the top players... There will be a lottery for most of them. Choose which one you want to have a ticket for and hope the lottery draws the name of your school.

I see a bunch of players who only have 1 school VH or H. And there are almost 20 of the top 100 that don't have anyone higher than moderate.

@zorzii: I looked at the top ten. I think you are confusing SIMs with human coaches. There are a bunch of players with a bunch of SIM AI guys on them and a few with more than 2 humans on them.

It's still going to be a lottery though.

Top D2 locations without D1 interference?

Yeah, getting Inside 300 miles is now important as it always was, cause you need to go all in on a player when you are in a battle, which means, your resources drop fast.. So a D2 location where there aren't a lot of human coaches in D1, has a huge advantage. I am playing in the Carolinas in IBA... And it sucks at D2.

I don't think that's true Zorzii. I have a D2 team at North Dakota, and I am recruiting players from all over the map. If all goes well, I will land players from
Kansas
Illinois
Iowa
Nebraska
Wyoming
Montana
Colorado

For my Ouachita Baptist team, I landed 3 players from Oklahoma, 3 from Texas and one from Mississippi

I think it just depends on who falls through the cracks.

If D1 is a lottery, then D2 must be a lottery with losing tickets.

Right. It is hard to BATTLE for long distance recruits, but it is easy to sign them with APs and a scholarship offer (and to add in Promised Minutes or a Promised Start.

It is much easier to recruit long distance now .. the hardest part is scouting long distance because of the expense of scouting individual players. but if you scout a state wit FSS and then do a public camp in that state, you can get some guys scouted at level 2 .. then scout a couple of them t level 3, etc.

The bottom line is, it is much more flexible to recruit in many different areas now. I know, its different and EEs absolutely suck. But the new recruiting has a lot going for it.

You guys are just confirming my point. I discover bunch of players near my campus, Carolinas, can't recruit them, I search elsewhere but run out of scouting money before I am satisfied with the ap I will throw around to sign players. So the story shows I ended up with a Ohio, NY and Alaska player. Location is important in the sense that you get an advantage on local D1 recruits.

Ya there is a lottery for big 6 teams and top 100 recruits. Big 6 still have it easier.
