VH to H is bullshit! Topic

Lost three H to VH already.. And he sends me : they wanted me more... I was VH... It's really a lottery. My whole recruiting is screwed.

0-3 kills a program real fast... And can't scout anymore to
find potential players... I mean, is random going to decide who gets lucky and who isn't. I was VH three times, once in D2, and lost three times to H. I was H once, lost too. So far, the only player I got was uncontested...

Get over it .. VH and H are the same damn thing. You have been told that they are almost exactly the same at least 1000 times. The ONLY difference is 5% lower probability for the H team. That is the only difference.

A 5% difference in probability is not an earth shattering amount, when added or subtracted to what the High team already has.

If you can't handle and plan for getting beat by another team in this manner, then this game is not for you.

it's bad luck, but consider this: in HD2 it was common and incredibly crappy to lose a whole recruiting class by getting tag-teamed once people saw you were weak simply for being in a battle or two.

The problem is not that hughes. It's you have no control on your team... If you get unlucky, you could end up losing all battles... And it means, one recruiting year lost. We need less random if we are to have a strategic game. What's strategic about losing all battles?

" What's strategic about losing all battles? "

Nothing if you don't learn from the experience.

Spud : ? Learn and give up players others are getting?

Here is an example to show luck can be too much, say Duke and UNC, really close to one another, are both triangle, man to man, and A+ prestige. Both get in 10 important battles where they do get to vh by going all in. If Duke wins 6 while UNC gets one, in a four years span... Luck decided who will win.

but you seem to act like luck and randomness is a new thing in HD3. luck has always been a big factor in the game. for example, recruit generation has always been luck--you get great local recruits, you got it made. or what about the bad luck of sim teams showing up on your targets at the beginning of an HD2 recruiting session? ugh, the worst...you see your "easy" targets become expensive. bad luck.

but unlike those situations, you can occasionally exercise control here by trying to push your rivals to moderate.

There is a difference. I could see how the battle would end. And if I got the heck unlucky, I would still be able to get to plan D which was a leftover subpar talent. Now, if plan A does not work, I can't even recruit... No scouting money, not enough discovered. If youcan't be competitive what's the point. I salvaged in D2 in D1 it's impossible. So less random is a good thing. I tried pushing the other team to moderate.

If you're having problems with not enough scouting money in D1, I don't know what to tell you. D1 scouting budget is enormous.

yeah, seriously, D1 scouting budget is immense. i've scouted almost the whole country just out of curiosity with all the extra scouting money i've had.
