Mass exodus!! Power Conferences Topic

WIS has a serious problem! I myself have no problem with the new engine, but it seems alot of people do, and its starting to affect the power conferences!(To Each their own) The problem to me isnt that people are leaving, the problem is that power schools are being vacated and the job criteria hasnt changed! In no circumstance should this game ever be dominated by mid majors and low D1, and based on the exodus, thats the trend that this thing is headed! With more SIM power schools, that means more Mids will gobble up elite players in affect making the mids the new powers! If I build Akron into a Power, what incentive is there for me to leave for Duke which is now sitting at a C- Prestige with Junk for players? None!!

WIS must change the criteria allowing these major schools to stay filled with humans or this game is about to get flipped upside down!

Why would they change? This is their goal. Well done WIS

I think that those at the mid-majors will probably fill the power conferences pretty quickly. I also know that WIS had mentioned they were going to adjust job logic, so hopefully that will happen soon.

keep in mind, when each world opened, DI and DII were vacant.

Gradually, folks moved up.

DI generally began with some lower DI jobs filled and BCS empty. Look back in the history of any BCS school to the early seasons of that world.

Being in a strong conference matters less in 3.0 - no postseason cash. And I think being in an all or mostly human conference matters less, so dynamic behavior will differ.

But, the household name schools will not stay empty long - I bet

But also remember it was much easier to build those power schools previously? Based on the new logic they are just names? Now that you are going to only have a small window to recruit leftover once you get there whats the "Major" incentive to leave your current program if you can get the best recruits anyway?

I just think unless they adjust the selection logic players may think twice before jumping ship for the "Name"?

Maybe.....people are leaving the top schools (BC in Crum just left after a LONG time) because he got hit with 5 EEs. So he'd take 3 walkons if he's lucky, and for a press team....it's rough. I think people will shift to the power conferences though. Prestige still matters and one bad year at Montana hurts a lot more than at Colorado and Kansas hardly notices a non NT year, prestige-wise.

I would shift to Hawaii in the Pac10, but I can't qualify for C- Hawaii (no postseason in over 20 seasons) with my C+ San Francisco team (5 postseason appearances in the last 6 seasons). I can only manage to get "Keep Looking" for most jobs.

Prestige does not have that much impact, but base prestige and a filled conference will. You do not drop fast at UNC, while at IUPUI... it goes down the drain fast. And, if you are in an empty conference, you will always lack that power conference préférences which helps when recruiting. Other than that, remaining at your present job gives you also a boost in préférences.

"the problem is that power schools are being vacated and the job criteria hasnt changed"

"I also know that WIS had mentioned they were going to adjust job logic, so hopefully that will happen soon."
That's true, there was a specific request from one of the WIS's for our observations.

We have seen complaints about all the power schools being filled and it was too hard to get a top job. Now we see a prediction that all the power schools will be empty. What a world we live in!

Yes, the issue is two fold with the jobs.

Currently, to get a top D1 job, the issue of qualifying is holding a lot of people back.

Now, with mass exodus of users from those schools, they will stay empty until people can qualify. In the meantime, they are continuing to build up their schools with bigger recruits.

Connecting the dots, what is the incentive to want to move up at that point? Just for the name of the school? Some will, some won't. Pretty simple.

Jobs should have been worked on first.

I'm not so sure that job logic hasn't been changed. In Crum, I'm qualified for numerous P6 schools. I have no business being qualified for such schools - I've never won an NT game. 0-6.

Sure, they're C- and C prestige schools, but nonetheless...

True enough. Nothing new about that. That will still be true when our grandkids are playing this game.

No, I think it's about right. Once you're at a low D1 for 5-6 years, you start being qualified for big 6 teams, as long as your current team's prestige is above theirs. You don't need NT tournament success, as long as the prestige is there, and you've been there long enough.

I suspect they'll announce when a change is made.

There's still an advantage in being in a strong conference, because that is a preference of some recruits, so it is good if the conference you are in is full.
